A lot has changed from the day we learned to walk to the day we attended our college orientation. Most of us have become more mature, well-rounded individuals and through that transformation, we had to leave behind a few pieces of our childhood. But don't worry, those parts of you aren't lost forever, they've just changed a bit.

1. We stopped slurping Go-Gurts and started drinking smoothies and protein shakes.

2. Making new friends on the school bus became making new friends in rideshare carpools.

4. Tamagotchis and Virtual Pets became real-life responsibilities (Kids, Pets, etc.)

5. Juice Boxes and Capri Suns with Labels That Read 100% Juice Became Ones That Read Something More Like 8% ALC/VOL

6. Fighting Over Colorful Gym Scooter Boards Became a Thing of the Past Once We Had Shiny New Cars To Show Off

7. Wasting time on Kid Pix became wasting time in Photoshop.

8. We Stopped Sniffing Scented Markers and Switched Over to Inhaling Therapeutic Essential Oils for Aromatherapy

9. We Tossed Our Ring Pops and Started Proposing With Real Engagement Rings

10. Some of Us Outgrew Our Big Wheels and Decided To Learn How to Ride Motorcycles

11. Our Ears Perk Up for the Pizza Delivery Man at Our Door the Way They Used To When We Heard The Ice Cream Truck Down the Street

12. We Stopped Anticipating the Weekend Because Saturdays and Sundays Aren't Always Our Days Off Anymore

13. We Gave Up Trick or Treating and Instead Occasionally Treat Ourselves to a Basket Full of Candy From the Dollar Store14. We Stopped Earning Tickets at Arcades and Started Playing for Real Money Gambling at Casinos15. We Traded Out Colorful Trix Yogurt for Healthier Alternatives Such as Plain Greek Yogurt

16. We Traded Out Our Coloring Books for So-Called Adult Coloring Books (Which Are Completely Different!)

17. We Traded Our ViewMasters for Basic Point and Shoot Cameras

18. Our Toy Flip Phones With Realistic Sound Effects Evolved Into Less Compact Smartphones

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating.
