We all have that one person that we have been friends with for as long as we can remember. They were there for us through good and bad times, and never left your side no matter what you put them through. As we mature we start to appreciate the little details of our friendship. These are just a few things that you go through when you grow up with your best friend:
1. You love telling people embarrassing stories about your BFF from when you were young
You're both guilty of doing childish things to each other or with each other, and you love seeing the face she makes when you share those stories with her current crush.
2. You have pictures together through every stage in your life
You and your best friend have been through your cute, awkward, and mature stages together. Luckily you have more than enough pictures to look back on the memories you have shared, and wonder where the time has gone.
3. You feel like a member of their family
It's not strange that you go on coffee dates with her mom AND grandmother. You are always comfortable and feel right at home with each member of her family.
4. Not only are you BFFs, but your parents are too
It's almost impossible for your parents not to be best friends when their daughters have been attached at the hip for 15 years. They even make plans together and call each other on the phone to talk, just like you and your BFF would.
5. No one thinks twice when you walk through each other's front doors without knocking
Her family members don't care when or how you got in, they're just happy to see you (even if you just saw them yesterday). They've gotten used to seeing you pop in every now and then.
6. You know where everything in their house belongs
You don't need to ask where the bathroom or the trash can is like you normally would at someome else's home.
7. You can tell each other the hard truth without hurting each other's feelings
Sometimes you need to hear the truth and you know your BFF will give it to you straight up. You know she's telling you because she cares and you appreciate her honesty.
8. You can confide in them about anything without fear that they will judge you
We all make mistakes and when we do, we need our BFF to rant to. The best part is that no matter what she thinks of your actions, she will never think of you differently and will always love you the same.
9. They are always your shoulder to cry on and know exactly what to say to cheer you up
No matter what they are doing, you know your best friend will drop everything and come to your aid when you're upset. When you're in pain she feels it too, and knows just what you need to hear.
10. You know they will be in your life forever
You have no doubts that your BFF will be a bridesmaid in your wedding or your future bingo buddy. You never question how long you will remain friends and this is one of the best things about your friendship.
So just in case I don't say it enough, thank you for everything you do for me. Thank you for growing up with me. And thank you for being like a sister to me. I love you
