Growing up a Hilary Duff Fan

I know I'm not the only one who's still obsessed.

If you were anything like me growing up, you were obsessed with Hilary Duff and anything she did. For my 9th birthday, all I wanted was to see her at Jingle Ball 2004 and you could imagine the look on my face at Red Robin when I opened up my birthday card to see a picture of Hilary and tickets to the concert. I wanted to be her. Dress like her, sing like her, act like her, and even wear my hair like her. To this day, Hilary Duff is a goddess and I'll show you why the fan-girling will never end.

Lizzie McGuire started the obsession.

I mean who doesn't want to watch a show about a girl on TV, going through the same awkward phases as you? Lizzie McGuire made it comfortable to talk about bras, body image, and boys (we all wanted to date, Ethan Craft.) And not to mention we all wanted a cartoon version of our alter ego that basically acted out our thoughts that we couldn't say out loud.

Then when she launched her music career, everything changed.

I mean why not? Pun intended. She has the chops and she made some catchy songs that were basically the soundtrack to my life for a few years; from Metamorphosis to Dignity. Especially when "Come Clean" came out and I forced my mom to play it in the car just so I could look out the window and pretend that I was in my own music video.

Four words: The Lizzie McGuire Movie.

I was just as shocked as the rest of my preteen friends when this came out. The greatest blessing was the coming of this movie. The fact that she got to travel to Europe for a middle school graduation trip raised my expectations completely but to top it all off, she met a hot Italian boy while she was there. Even though he turned out to be a player, you have to admit, some pretty cool things came from the experience.

Truly feeling Terri's pain in Raise Your Voice.

I had never lost a family member before, but the same year this movie came out, my grandmother passed away and I really connected with Terri when she lost her brother, Paul. Mix the emotions with my admiration for Hilary Duff; you have one hell of a movie. Not to mention the fun music, summer romance and countless number of Juicy Couture jackets.

Oh and what about A Cinderella Story?

Austin & Sam. Need I say more?

But this movie taught me a lot. Especially "Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game." And to stand up for yourself.

All the movies before and between..

Cadet Kelly. Cheaper by the Dozen. The Perfect Man. Beauty and the Briefcase. And who else was pumped when she showed up on Gossip Girl for a few episodes?

Although she took some time off to get married and have a baby, she's back and better than ever.

If you haven't started watching her new TV series Younger, stop what you're doing right now and binge watch all of them because Season 3 starts September 28th on TVLand. Oh and did I mention a new album??? Yeah you heard me.

NEW MUSIC PEOPLE!!

She may be 28 years old now, but she still looks great and her new music is so fun and fresh. I listen to her Breathe In. Breathe Out. CD on repeat when I'm getting ready in the mornings or when I'm on the stair master at the gym.

Don't stop Hilary, your fans love you. I love you. And baby Luca.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
