Tomorrow, August 19, is my 24th birthday, and while I should be excited, I'm less than thrilled. It's not like I have don't have any plans, no friends to celebrate with, or my family isn't aware. But, with every year that passes by, things seem to only get more difficult.
I'm not saying that I don't have a great life; I have a supportive, loving family, a great group of friends, coworkers that are fun and easy to get along with, and I actually know where I see my self in a couple of years.
Everything should be new and I should be excited, but the older I get, the more difficult things I face in life; I've faced disappointment, heartbreak, and the loss of close people who were once in my life. During my 22nd and 23rd years, I have lost so many people in my life to death, loss of touch, timing, and just worrying more about what I want then trying to please everyone else.
Maybe this is all just part of growing up; maybe I shouldn't be scared of growing up and be more excited. The last two years were growing years, changing and evolving years. Maybe I needed those just to see where I needed to go in life when I was so lost.
There is no point in looking back or dwelling on the past when you are excited of where you're going, when you see all of the mountains you've climbed, and when you see all of the hardships you have gone through.
I am scared to grow older, but I am also curious to see what the upcoming year will hold for me. I can only take it one day at a time--all 365 of them.
