6 Reasons Why Growing Up On A Lake Is The Best Childhood Ever
Grace Donovan

I have so many memories from the little lake I live on, and I will forever be grateful for them. Here are just some reasons why growing up on a lake is so great.

1. The mentality

There's something about lake people that is just somewhat different. Almost kind of more relaxed mentality. I'm not sure if it's just the idea that you can leave your worries aside when going to the lake or what but I absolutely love it.

2. The memories

I mentioned before but I have countless amounts of memories from my childhood at the lake and I would never trade them in a million years. I also have an endless amount of stories that are still just as good when told as they were when they happened.

3. The views

One of the things I love most about living on a lake is the fact that when I drive home it looks like I am on vacation. Sometimes I honestly go on car rides just to drive around the lake. It's so beautiful especially when it is summer and there's nice weather and I am constantly awestruck every time I look outside.

4. Parties

I think I take it for granted that if I want to have a lake party I pretty much can whenever I want. Even if it isn't an all-out party I can still have all my friends down at the lake and not even think twice. It's also one of the best places to have a party because of how much you can do and how pretty it looks always.

5. Perfect place for photos

Whenever I am in need of a place to take photos, I can always rely on doing them in front of the lake. It always comes in handy if I need somewhere to do school dance photos or before any event.

6. Not being forced to drive to the beach if I want to lay out

At the main clubhouse at my lake there is a beach area which is so great, especially if you don't want to go all the way to the beach but still want to lay out. It saves so much time, not to mention gas, and sometimes I choose the beach area down at the lake over the actual beach since I don't have to pay for parking either.

I absolutely love the fact that I was able to grow up with a lake right across the street, it has honestly influenced me in ways that I wouldn't even know. I am always going to keep those memories with me that I have cultivated throughout the many years, and there will always be a smile on my face when I think of my childhood. Hopefully a lot of you can relate, and if not then go visit a lake because you will not regret it.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
