A well written novel has a creative, original way to fuel a longing sense of adventure and curiosity. Over the years, I have read a great deal of books that I have found to hold a tremendous impact in my everyday life. This week I have decided to share a strong list of books that I feel deeply convey a valuable insight.

  • As you might imagine the first on my list of great reads is none other than the one of a kind series authored by none other than JK Rowling. That is right growing up reading about the boy who lived proved to fuel my adventurous spirit. As a child, I had always listened to the books on CD in the car. As I grew older I would spend the evening pouring over each page filled with anticipation and excitement. If you have not read this series then I highly recommend you experience this incredible literature.
  • Next on my list is yet another series. Written by Kevin Hearne the Iron Druid Chronicles quickly captured my attention. This fictional adventure is an incredible work of literature that intertwines the cultural mythologies of countless religions. Additionally, there is plenty of great humor that makes any of these books a nice read after a long day. If not for anything else, the main character, Atticus, has an Irish Wolfhound who proves to have quite a character providing a simple perspective to the complexities of a wildly thrilling adventure. Without giving a way too many spoilers I will end my notes with a straightforward recommendation that everyone should take the time to read this inspiring series.
  • Third on my list is not a series, but rather a novel. This novel is titled The Giver. It was inspirational piece of literature that encompassed a shocking sensation of a world with no emotions. After reading the compelling futuristic story, I was able to better grasp the significance of diversity and the role it plays in the innovation and advancement of society.
  • Another book, the fourth title on my list is relatively new to myself having only finishing the last page earlier this week. Written by Clive Cussler the Lost Empire is an adventurous book that depicts the findings of a married couple, Sam and Remi Fargo, as they actively seek the mysteries surrounding lost treasure. I found this novel to be full of realism and imagination as these renowned treasure hunters unknowingly stumble across the mysteries surrounding an old ship’s bell and the beginning of the Aztec empire. This book was full of action and excitement. I hope that you find time to allow for a great entertainment opportunity. As for myself, I know I will be exploring more of Clive Cussler’s many books.
  • Last on my list of the best fiction is none other than the Hobbit, written by JRR Tolkien. It is a classic work of art that produced a thrilling adventure in a land unlike our own. Although I must admit that this was, in fact, the only book outlasted by the movie which was actually portrayed the story across the span of three rather long movies. However, I have found that the book had provided a great deal of value beyond the special effects of the movies. I hope that you consider this a viable option as your next book to read.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
