The other day I was talking to one of my friends who was in the midst of a huge life decision. As I attempted to give the best advice a 20-year-old could, I said something that made me really step back and think about my own life.
She was deciding between a major that was “safe” and one that was her passion. We’re second semester sophomores and the thought of completely changing your path of life, not to mention being a freshman again, is scary. Her parents and other (less brilliant) friends told her to stick it out: “The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.”
For a lot of instances they were right, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. When it comes to your purpose in life or whom you will wake up to every morning, if you are wondering what another yard looks like, your grass could probably be a lot greener.
I want to cultivate my yard. I want to be the crazy person that wins the “prettiest yard in the neighborhood” award every year because this is the only yard I get.
