I have best friends, parents, brothers, aunts, uncles and cousins. I love sharing laughs, holidays, vacations and memories with them but out of all the moments I have shared with them nothing beats the moments I’ve shared with my grandma. When I was little my Grandma was always my babysitter and spent most of her time with me. As much as I loved her back then nothing compares to the bond I have with her now. We can talk about anything in the world and I will never feel judged. I can ask her for advice and she will always have the correct answer.
My grandma has taught me the true meaning of life and continues to teach me more and more each day I'm with her. She’s taught me to love, forgive, forget, be thankful, be happy and to believe in yourself. There was a time in my life I thought I was never going to figure out what I wanted to do with my future and spent most of my time stressed because of this. Since my grandma is the most selfless person I know she took my problem and made it hers. Over time, we would talk about potential future jobs and I eventually discovered I was going to major in Marketing. This was a decision I couldn't have made without her and I owe it all to her.
Being in college there are quite a few things I miss. I miss hearing stories about all the stupid things my parents, aunts and uncles did when they were kids. I miss her cooking, I love my mothers baking but nothing beats the sweet tooth my grandma has; she nails it every time. I miss watching Ellen or The Voice in her cozy living room with a cup of tea. I miss porch talks. I miss sharing our good and bad days. But most importantly I miss her.
At the end of the day, as much as I think I know myself I find that my grandma knows me better. I never thought I would think of my grandmother as my best friend, but as I got older and shared more memories and laughs with her I knew she was going to be the bestest friend God was ever going to put in my life. Through the good times and bad, I know my grandma will always be there for me.
