The Ultimate Graduation Playlist

You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here.

As the days pass, college seniors everywhere get closer and closer to graduation. You feel both the sense of impending doom and total excitement that you're finally done with undergrad, and the only way to really cope with both of those feelings is with a good graduation playlist. So, to all my 2018 graduates, tune in to the best graduation playlist and get ready to feel those feels.

"Good Riddance" by Green Day.

A true graduation classic. If these last four years (or five if you took a victory lap) were some of the best, some old school Green Day and 90s nostalgia will bring back all those memories. The good, the bad, the unpredictable. But just like Billie Joe said, "in the end its right."

"Good Morning" by Kanye West.

If this is not the first song you listen to on the morning of your graduation, you are doing yourself a disservice. Some old school Yeezy will put you in the right mood to walk across that stage. A little reminder that the professors that made your life hell or the 8 a.m.'s you barely made it to can't stop you now.

"Lost in My Mind" by The Head and the Heart.

For those last drives or strolls down your favorite streets when you need some "think about life" music, The Head and the Heart has got you covered. This sentimental addition to your grad playlist will enlighten you to just how much you've grown these last few years. Let those feelings

"Dog Days are Over" by Florence + The Machine.

Just like a season finale is not complete without a Florence + The Machine song, and the same goes for your graduation playlist. If you're looking to feel inspired about the next steps in your life, a little Florence and a lot of inspirational Pinterest boards should get your through.

"Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield.

A 2000's classic that is not only relatable, but so much fun to sing along to. I highly suggest pretending to be Lauren Conrad circa 2004 and drive around your college town blasting this anthem.

"It's Time" by Imagine Dragons

Do you ever listen to a song and feel like you're about to go through a major life change? This song is exactly that feeling. If you're looking to feel inspired about this next point in your life, add this track to your graduation playlist.

"Closing Time" by Semisonic.

Okay, if your favorite college-town bar didn't play this everytime at 2 a.m... was it actually a college-town bar? Hug your pals close for the last call of undergrad and belt it out one more time. While it may be the end of college, remember that every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end. The glory days may be done but there's a lot more life to be lived outside the student union.

Congrats on making it out alive, grads, and be sure to bump this playlist for all your happy, sad, and nostalgic moments this final semester.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
