How I Got Started

I’m very excited to become part of Odyssey and the team. This is my first post/article so hopefully they get better as they go. To give my first post some meaning I am going to recollect my thoughts and feelings before I was offered to be part of this organization. For an Organization so big this was the first time I’ve actually heard of it until my friend mentioned it to me. We were in the car and she mentioned something about her boss. I didn’t really know that she worked because we would hang out frequently so I asked her if she had a job. She told me that it was some form of blog workshop kind of deal where she can write about whatever she wants. That sounded pretty cool to me so I told her that I was interested and if I could be able to join or participate. Luckily she was already going to ask me so she contacted her boss to tell her I was interested. I was curious on how the process would work for me to be able to join. She explained the process and the part that I was kind of nervous about was the interview. To be honest this would be my first interview and I really didn’t know how to look at it so it was on my mind constantly. I was bombarding my friend with question and thinking about how to approach my first interview. She could tell I was a little nervous so she told me to chill and just talk. With the most perfect timing I got a text message from her boss saying she heard from my friend that I was interested. I told her I was so she asked if I was available for a quick call (basically the interview) unfortunately I was busy so we decided on a time and date so I waited until then. Being me it was on my mind for the most part and I was wondering if I was at least decent of a writer compared to my friend. I didn’t really worried about because I didn’t want to get psyched out for it. So the day came and I was still a little nervous. I was waiting for a call throughout the day and Amanda (boss) called. It was a feeling of mixed emotions. I was really excited yet nervous. Knowing me I was going to mess up my first interview so I answered we greeted each other then she informed me and gave me more of a detailed description of Odyssey. I told her more about me and she asked if I had any question so I asked to help me understand a couple of things then she said okay thank you and welcome to the team. When I heard that I was filled with joy and got really excited and contacted my friend that I made it right away. So yea… That’s my experience with the start of a new chapter! Can’t wait to do more.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
