Life Lessons You Learned From the Characters on "Gossip Girl"

There comes a time in every TV watcher's life when you get so caught up in a show that you start to think you actually know the characters and become emotionally attached to them. No matter how many times I watch "Gossip Girl," it never gets old, because who doesn't like watching the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite? I will keep watching this show until my own Chuck Bass comes around. But there are also life lessons to be learned from the characters of "Gossip Girl."

1. Blair

Queen B. Quite possibly one of the most fabulous fictional characters ever created. Blair Waldorf is completely evil 90% of the time and has absolutely no shame in her game. Ever. There is never a time that she forgets that she is Blair Waldorf, and she never lets anyone else forget it either. Blair Waldorf's self-confidence is something everyone should aspire to have. On another note, we can learn from Blair to have faith... and if that doesn't work, have a lot of mimosas, because what else do you really need in life?

2. Serena

From Serena, we learn that people can change. I always try to look for the best in people and believe that they can change for the better, and Serena backs up this theory. Serena goes through a transformation throughout the series from out-of-control party girl to a respectable young lady.

3. Chuck

There are probably a lot of things Chuck has done that should serve as life lessons... but one thing we all should take away is to not give up on someone you love. After many years on the roller coaster we refer to as Chuck and Blair's relationship, he finally came to his senses and put a ring on it. From the beginning it was clear that they were meant to be together; it just wasn't the right time for them to be together. We can learn from Chuck that if you really love someone, you stick it out until the timing is right, whether its months or years. If it's meant to be it's meant to be, am I right?

3. Jenny

Jenny Humphrey is the girl who tried so hard to fit in during her years at Constance. One of the most easily leaned lessons comes from Jenny; don't try to be someone that you're not. After she loses the plaid skirts and headbands for heavy eye makeup and nothing but black clothes, it's clear that she was never meant to be a preppy Park Avenue princess. Jenny learned the hard way to not try to be anyone other than yourself, but certainly one worth learning.

4. Nate

With all the drama Nate went through with his family, we can learn to always forgive. Nate was always forgiving when it came to his controlling family, somewhat crazy girlfriends, and even forgiving his best friend for sleeping with his girlfriend in the back of a limo. So obviously he's a pretty good guy. But the reason he was forgiving is because it all involved people he really loved and cared about. So remember to forgive and TRY to forget.

5. Dorota

Housekeeper by day, Blair's partner in crime by night, Dorota was always around to keep up with Blair's shenanigans, even when she didn't have the best ideas. We can learn from Dorota to always be supportive of those that we care about no matter what. Even when Dorota knew what Blair was doing was wrong, she would still stand by her. So next time your friend asks for advice about that boyfriend that you never liked, be like Dorota and try to be supportive.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
