The school year is almost over. Finals are around the corner and your stressful mental breakdowns are about to be a part of your everyday life until you turn in that last final. That also means that you are about to move home for the summer. Yes, that means you and your roommates are about to part ways. After living together for the entire school year, you have come to know each other inside and out. From being strangers who you didn't know the day before moving in to becoming best friends, we all know that deep down you don't want to leave each other. We know, we know, leaving each other is going to be difficult.
So to be able to describe the journey that we have gone through with our roommates before we say goodbye, let's relate our experiences with some of our favorite group of roommates from the TV show "New Girl."
From...
Meeting your roommates for the first time.
The very first time you met your random roommates you stood there with an awkward smile. You talked about your excitement for the new year since that's the only thing you could talk about that you knew you had in common. Trying to avoid the awkwardness was step one.
.
To beginning to learn about each other.
After spending the first few days together going to the dining hall, going to the new school year events and just spending time in your room together, you began to see their perks and quirks. This is also when you encountered the first few awkward moments.
Then you discovered the things you have in common.
Yes! They are just like you when it comes to loving late-night fast food runs and spending countless hours watching Netflix instead of doing homework. Your love for T.V. and food is what brought you all together.
You began to share your experiences.
You began to tell each other about your classes, your awesome professors, new people you have met and of course your new crushes. After you met the cute guy that lives down the hall, your roommates were the first ones you went to about your new crush. This also means that by sharing your experiences with each other you began to become close because you started telling each other everything.
You now tell your roommates everything.
You now run to your roommates to tell them everything from awkward stories from your class presentations to embarrassing stories from the night before. Your roommates would help you through the good and bad, but no matter what they made sure to remind you later on about the hilarious and embarrassing things you did.
You all now help each other make the best decisions.
Before you do anything you get all of your roommates opinions. From who to bring as your date to events, what you should wear, or your next fashion statement. As roommates you always make sure to tell them the truth and try to guide them in the right direction. However, even when they make the wrong decision you have no choice but help them through it, including the bad haircuts and fashion choices.
You learn to deal with their bad music taste.
You love them to death but no matter what you will never agree to liking their music. So when they are blaring their music while taking a shower, you have no other choice but to put in headphones of your own.
You go through the thick and the thin with each other.
You all now live each day together. This means you experience the same things. From getting bad grades, to break ups and to running out of money, when something happens to them, it happens to you. So that time when you both ran out of money and couldn't buy food, the only things you could afford to eat were Ramen noodles.
You always have each other's backs.
The days come where frenemies are made. That means no matter what you are there to back up your roommate. When their parents call and yell at them for not working enough or not getting good enough grades, you make sure to tell them that your roommate is the hardest working person you know. You reassure them that their procrastination habits of binge watching tv are okay, because you know you're guilty of that too.
To,
Loving your roommates.
You couldn't imagine your year without them. The awesome adventures, crazy stories and making it through the rough times together would have never happened if it weren't for your roommates. You all say 'I love you' and call each other multiple times a day. You are dreading to say goodbye. Here's to a having had a great year with your awesome roommates!
