So now that we are just about 24 hours into our New Year's resolutions, how are you keeping up?
Did you go to the gym today? Save money? Spend time with family or friends? Enjoy life to the fullest? Maybe give yourself a week to adjust. There's a 24 hour grace period, maybe even a week.....okay a month.
We all do it. We sit down, make a goal for the year and after a few days of failure, we give up for the whole year and then it's January 1st, 2018 and you can't even remember what your resolution for 2017 was.
In typical fashion, I have a suggestion: make your resolution in February.
I'm serious. It can still be your New Year's resolution but by February, you know what your year looks like a little better than you do that first week of January. You come out of the holidays full of optimism and hope for the future. I'm not saying you can't still have those things in February but you are more realistic about what to be hopeful for and what to be optimistic about.
By February, most everyone has abandoned their New Year's resolution. But you will just be starting. You can be smart about what you want your goals to be without a clouded mind. You can make it more about you and less about what everyone else is making their goals about.
No one expects you to post about it or hold you accountable if you make a resolution in February. I am telling you, this is the way to go. You'll be less disappointed with yourself and 85% more likely to stick to your goals*.
Let's make February Resolutions a thing. Be easy on yourself this January and focus on the real parts of your life that you feel need improvement and adjust.
Bonus: the gym is less crowded in February.
*made up statistic, but probably close to true..
