Goodbye 2015, Hello 2016

he time has come for us to say goodbye to 2015 and hello to 2016. This year was definitely one for the books and an unforgettable time. From Caityln Jenner to Star Wars. Many of the things that occurred this year seem to to outrageous to even believe but luckily 2016 is just around the corner and fingers crossed that maybe it wont be as much of a crazy year. Here are a list of some of the events that you will either always remember or try to forget.

POP CULTURE

Forgetting Bruce Jenner and Introducing Caitlyn Jenner.

-It was a major year for the Kardashian-Jenner family with Bruce becoming Caitlyn. Caitlyn has made numerous developments in the trans community and has stepped up and opened up about her life struggle of closeting this. This also being a big deal for the magazine, Vanity Fair this also pushes the issues of the trans community into the limelight.

Caitlyn Jenner wins Courage Award and Woman of the Year.

-Yet again proving that you don't have to be the norm it is possible to do great things with also making big changes in your life. Caitlyn has had many accomplishments this past year and it shows that us as a society is becoming more accepting of the trans community.

Amy Schumer's rise to stardom.

-Amy Schumer once being just a stand up comedian for comedy central has risen to stardom over the past year. Having multiple comedy specials and the move Trainwreck, Amy has proven herself worthy of the fast pace that is Hollywood and has made this world a little funnier.

The end of "The Late Show with David Letterman"

-Being around for David Letterman is already an honor but being around for his last show is even much of an honor. Letterman has has many great years on his show and watching him say goodbye was pretty hard.

Jon Snow's Death

-Tears are already starting to fill my eyes. Now if you have read the books then you probably already knew this was coming, but this sad moment coming to live on screen hurts even more. I don't know how Game of Thrones is going to go on without Jon Snow but this was definitely a year of loss.

Rhonda Rousey gets knocked out in the 2nd round.

- Now this was a big shock being that Rhonda had built a reputation on being undefeated and knock outs in the first or second round. Holly knocked Rhonda out with a kick to the head in the 2nd round. Here is to hoping that a rematch is coming up.

Saint West is born

-Now I know this might seem mediocre compared to everything else that happened next year but this is just the beginning of Saint West taking over the media by storm in 2016 and in the future. We will remember this is the year Saint West was born.

Straight outta Compton

-A great movie to come out at a time when "Black Lives Matter" is rising up in this world. Even though a lot of us grew up on this music and it seems like a fun movie to watch. We also have to notice the important message and remember we needed this movie.

Fifty Shades of Grey

-Mom, Grandmothers, Aunts, and Daughters. We all read the books and when the movie came out it was all of our wishes coming true. Can't wait for the rest of them to come out!

Star Wars

-Calling all NERDS! Just kidding if you haven't seen the new Star Wars or any of them in general then you need to, stop denying the force.

Leonard Nimoy passes away at 83, "Live Long and Prosper"

For all my Star Trek fans this year was a sad one. Almost comparing it to losing a member of your family. No worries, Nimoy will live on.

TRAGIC EVENTS & POLITICS

Ferguson

-We all have heard plenty this year of the black lives matter movement. Michael Brown was shot down by a police officer. This causing unrest as many more cases with similar events appearing through out the year. Inlcuding riots in major cities, social media debates, body cameras and more. Here is to hoping things get better in 2016.

Pray for Paris and the World

-Paris has had a rough year and so has many cities in the world who have been targeted by ISIS. Multiple destinations in the city of Paris were victims of terrorist attacks in November causing many lives lost. We all stand together united against these horrible acts of terrorism.

Charlie Hebdo Attack

-The well known magazine headquarters in France was bombed causing a uproar of parades and riots asking for more protection and enlisting strength and unity among the people of France. All of us will remember the "Je Suis Charlie" campaign.

Migrants from Libya drown

-Many migrants attempting to escape Libya drowned, the death count hitting 150. This was a major tragedy seeing as how many bodies turned up on near by beaches including children. This event bringing light to the major refugee issues that this world is having.

Reporter and Cameraman killed on live tv

-This was a major tragedy and shocking because of the footage released of both reporter and cameraman being killed. This just added to the major debate with gun control.

Donald Trump Running for President

-Just the idea of Donald Trump running for President is crazy to me. We always here celebrities and millionaires threatening to run for president but now we actually have one doing and succeeding. I don't know whats to come of the elections in 2016 but Trump is leading in the Primary election for the Republican party. Goes to show anyone can run for President.

Congratulations! If you are reading this then that means that you have survived 2015 and are on your way to counting down for 2016. Just remember that we still have two more weeks of 2015 which means there is still more room for crazy. Happy New Year!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
