While some places are more equipped to handle snow then others, there are still unforeseen circumstances that many, including myself, overlook. As I have to sit home for another two days because of flights, I've thought about all about some of the overlooked wonders and disasters snow provides. Here are my top ten realizations:

1. Take A Minute to Look at the Trees

Personally, I will always prefer palm trees over pine trees. The only exception is when it snows. The way the snow sits and coats the pine needles, makes them sparkle and makes me feel like I'm in a Christmas moving. Looking at the trees covered in snow is a great way to take a moment to relax.

2. Shoveling

Where there is snow there is ice, and trying to get rid of the snow means exposing the ice. You will slip, you will fall. Snow is heavy and very hard to move. It is next to impossible to get every inch of it and whatever you don't shovel up gets turned into ice.

3. How Much Your Dog Loves It

For most dogs, snow is new and exciting. They don't know what it is, but they don't want you to take it away. They will do anything and everything to make sure it doesn't go anywhere. They will run around and play in it for hours, and yes it is the cutest thing ever.

4. Transportation to Nowhere

When it's winter break and your classes start in two days there is nothing worse then your flight being cancelled. Until it is cancelled again and again and next thing you know, you can't get on a flight until halfway into the start of spring semester. YAY TRANSPORTATION!!

5. Hot Chocolate

Snow means freezing temperatures ~literally~. What better way to warm up then with a nice cup of warm happiness. Whoever decided to heat up chocolate is smarter then the person who discovered chocolate. Hot chocolate is the saving grace of winter.

6. Freezing Temps

Winter means it is cold. Like single digits cold. That means you have to bundle up and be completely dry. If your hair is wet it could freeze! Walking around a college campus in single digit temperatures is the worst.

7. Skiing and Tubing and Snowboarding! OH MY!!

Some of the best and most fun winter sports. If you've never been on a ski trip, you're missing out.

8. Piles on Piles on Piles

Snow. Never. Melts. If you're up north were it really does stay cold all winter long, meaning it could snow in December and you could still have snow piles in March. The more it snows, the higher the piles get, they longer they stay. This just makes life difficult.

9. NO MOSQUITOS

ITS TOO COLD TO GET EATEN ALIVE BY BUGS!!! You can sit outside and not get attacked, if you can face sitting outside! This is the best part about winter!!

10. There's Nothing to Do

Winter is a great refresher to sit and relax and not have stress for a little. Until you sit around doing nothing for three weeks. It is very easy to get bored in winter, especially when it snows. Being snowed in is nice at first, but you can only watch so many movies.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
