While being away at college you may feel like you need to fit into the typical college stereotype of a huge partier that goes out getting wasted every weekend, but there are so many other options for weekend fun than just going out. Whether you're still hungover from last night, you're too lazy to get ready to go out or you just aren't interested in the college party scene, check out this list of alternative weekend plans!

1. Catch up on sleep

After a long hard week of classes catching some extra Z's sounds a lot better than a loud, cramped and sweaty party.

2. Binge-watch a new show on Netflix

Pop some popcorn, grab a bag of chips or order a pizza and curl up in your bed with a new binge-worthy special.

3. Do some crafting

Bring out your creative side by painting a canvas, doodling in a notebook or trying out a fun DIY project.

4. Get ahead in your classes

Take some time to work ahead on your homework or start studying for your next test.

5. Reorganize and clean your room

Let's be honest, half of your floor is covered in notes and school materials and the other half is laundry, so get to cleaning.

6. Go bowling or play billiards

Head on over to the Bowling and Billiards center with some friends and play a few games.

7. Have a spa night with your girlfriends

Do a face mask, paint your nails, take a nice long bubble bath and take some time to pamper yourself.

8. Have a game night

Bring out a deck of cards and some board games and have an exciting game night with your friends.

9. Watch YouTube videos for hours on end

Pop open YouTube and look through some videos, after a few you'll be sucked in and 4 hours will go by.

10. Go to a sports game or show

Check out ISU's sports games or theater shows, there's a ton going on every week.

11. Volunteer

Use your time to give back and help out your community.

12. Go home for the weekend

Catch a bus or drive home for the weekend to spend time with your family and get some free home-cooked meals.

For this weekend or weekends to come, try some of these different activities instead of going out and still have fun! Don't forget staying in can be fun too!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
