Going Out: Expectations v. Reality

I hope your night is everything that you expected.

Going Out: Expectations v. Reality

It's finally Friday and you can't wait to go out. You've had a long week of exams and all you can think about is hanging out with your closest friends and having a good time.

However, your night always ends up differently than you expect.

1. Pregaming

Expectation: Lot's of drinking games with endless amounts of alcohol.

Reality: It's 10 of your closest friends crammed into a small dorm room while chugging the cheapest vodka you can find. The college budget is real.

2. When you see your crush at the party

Expectation: We all want our crush to recognize us and come up to us at a party. Some people think that because they are intoxicated they will have the courage to go up and talk to them.

Reality: You're too nervous to talk to them so you just admire them from afar and tell your friends how hot he or she is. He probably notices that you've been staring at him all night and then gets creeped out.

3. What you think you look like

Expectation: We all want to look like Beyonce.

Reality: After 10 minutes of being in a fraternity all of your makeup is running from sweating too much. The lighting is bad for pictures and you most likely do not look like Beyonce and, more likely, look like this guy instead.

Tip: Take pictures before you go out.

4. Dancing

Expectation: It's time to break out your best moves.

Reality: You and your friends are struggling not to touch random sweaty strangers which leads you to look like Rebecca Black.

4. Leaving the party

Expectation: The fraternity party is just the start of the night. Next stop is the club or bar until it shuts down and then finding a nice guy to go home with.

Reality: You leave the party early to go stuff your face with food.

5. The Next Morning

Expectation: You will wake up at 10 and do homework all day.

Reality: You wake up at 12 and stay in bed all day until you realize that it's 6pm, you haven't started your homework, and you have an exam this week.

Well, I hope reality lived up to your expectations. If it didn't then there's always next weekend.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
