You Never Know What’s Going On Behind Closed Doors So Be Kind

"Eventually doors close and there's absolutely no way to open them again, and we immediately begin to regret not even cracking the door open and having a conversation that may change one's life."

Let's just begin with the fact that we all think that we know the extent of the people around us and who they are inside and out. But that is entirely false due to the fact that there are so many elements of our lives that we hide from one another. The fear that rises from the truth can truly separate you from those who care about you the most. Everyone has secrets and it's the elements of your life that you keep behind the door which remain there and grow overtime. It's scary to know that most people in your life have things they choose to keep to themselves and there are so many layers of a person that you may not even know in your own lifetime. But that's why it's important for us to open each other's doors and be present no matter how awkward or uncomfortable it may be.

Eventually doors close and there's absolutely no way to open them again, and we immediately begin to regret not even cracking the door open and having a conversation that may change one's life. My door is shut sometimes which is a flaw within myself that I need to begin to resolve due to the amount of incredible people who gladly have their doors open for me. When you love anyone in your life, it's important to remind them that you're there for them and you always will be, because you never know what could be happening behind their door. As you show your compassion and understanding for someone, they'll open up to you and it'll be as if this person as shown you a whole other aspect of their life. Have you ever asked someone if they were ok? That question within itself could open so many other doors that will lead you to a life changing conversation that could truly alter your views on someone's life.

Something I've noticed over my lifetime is that everyone is here to help one another which is actually amazing. No matter what position you hold in society or what job you obtain in your everyday life, you're doing something for someone and making their day a little bit brighter. Just by being here in this world you're making a difference and doing something that no one has done before. You might be walking on a different street, handing someone a coffee, or working in an office with tons of people, but you're doing something productive and making a change in someone's life. It may not be as apparent because seeing a change is a little difficult, but challenge yourself to think about new things you do everyday and how you could maybe knock on someone's door and see how they are feeling.

As life is constantly progressing so is one's mind so make sure that you're present in your own life as well as others on a daily basis. It just takes a few words, or starting a new conversation to impact one's life in ways that you couldn't even imagine. Please, be the change you want to see in the world and create a footprint everywhere you go for the rest of your life.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
