School has just ended for the day, and my father has picked me up from school. I am in seventh grade, and like most of my other friends I had a normal routine that I followed almost every day. Come home, make a snack, and turn on the television to watch the re-runs of "Gilmore Girls" that always came on that time of day. "Gilmore Girls" came to be a part of my growing up and coming of age. For any young women going through any sort of teen angst, the show was the perfect escape and 100 percent relatable. When I grew older, and got my own Netflix in high school, it was "Gilmore Girls" that I would binge watch episodes at a time, taking me back to a simpler time in my childhood. And now, nine years after the last episode of "Gilmore Girls" aired on television, a revival is coming. Grab your popcorn, take your seats, and get ready for what could possibly be one of the best show renewals of all time.
This revival will take place within four separate episodes to air on Netflix, and will have many of the crowd-favorite characters to return to that hallowed town square. Lorelai, Rory, Luke, Emily, Kirk, Logan, Jess, Paris and Doyle, Dean, Christopher, Michel, Taylor, Mrs. Kim, Gypsy, Miss Patty, Babette, Andrew, April, Finn, Lane, and even some new faces that fans haven't been introduced to yet are all expected to appear in the revival. On a more serious note for fans, the show does have a couple key characters that won't be re-visiting the town of Stars Hollow, and how their absences are explained is for sure a mystery to be determined. For instance, it is said the because of Melissa McCarthy's large rise to fame, she was not able to work on the revival for lack of availability. Not to mention the late actor that played Rory's grandfather, Edward Hermann, as he is sadly no longer with us.
This revival is expected to take place whilst the events that occurred in season seven of the show were occurring. As of right now, creator of the show Amy Sherman-Palladino has revealed that the revival will begin with a focus on a single Rory. A single Rory who is not married, but "dating." We are not sure who will be the lucky man, but evidently it is Sherman-Palladino's goal to bring back many of the famed men of Rory's past.
As for all the unanswered questions concerning the plot of the show...
Is the mother-daughter duo single?
Which men will reappear (or not reappear) back in Rory's life?
What happened to Rory's journalism career?
What's the deal with Lulu and Kirk?
What about the family tradition of the Friday night dinners?
How will the show excuse Sookie's absence? What about Rory's grandfather?
...which of course are all very good questions indeed, yet only time will tell as the show comes to our very own living rooms in the form of our Netflix accounts! Happy binging!
