“Seriously God? Why did you let this happen?” That is a question I find myself asking more often than I should. Throughout the week, obstacles get in our way of trying to make everything go smoothly. Whenever a problem arises I want to blame it on something else, and just when I’ve had enough of it is when I let the question slip my mind asking God how he could let this happen. This week I found myself letting the question float around in my head as I unexpectedly lost a close family member. When I first received the news all I wanted to do was blame God. I knew I shouldn’t of but I couldn’t help but think how God would let such a tragic thing happen to such an amazing person.
One of the biggest struggles of being a Christian is accepting the occurrence of an unfortunate event. Even more harder when it’s something that happens to ourselves. It’s hard to believe that God would allow such a heavy burden be carried on His children. We may think that God is punishing us or just doesn’t like us whenever a terrible situation happens in our life. it’s important to remind ourselves though that God does nothing out of vain. God loves each and everyone of us which is why must strive to understand that everything He allows to happen in our life is out of love. We may not like the circumstances He puts us in and makes us work through but that’s what comes along with being human. God didn’t intend on our lives to be easy, and as sinners we have to learn to cope with the problems that God puts in our life.
It’s so easy to want to blame God whenever a situation turns our life upside down but that is when God wants you to lean on Him the most. Whether it is the death of someone you are close to or just a bad day gone wrong, God wants you to turn towards Him no matter what the issue may be. Yes, it is more difficult to try to understand why something very tragic happened than a little issue, but that is when it is most important to turn towards Him. God doesn’t let anything happen that He thinks we can’t handle, and during the mist of it all He hopes that it will help us grow closer to Him.
So the next time you find yourself asking the question “Why did you let this happen God?” remind yourself that He has a plan for everything. We may not like it or ever come to understand it but that is just part of the challenges of life. For the most important thing to do in those certain situations is pray about it, and instead of asking the “why” question keep in your mind “God’s got this” because He truly does.
