The way that we view each other, and the way that we view ourselves does not give us the full story of who we are. We look on the outside and see the missteps, misfortunes, disappointments and failures of our lives. We see everything that has ever gone wrong and chalk it up as who we are and who we will always be. The amazing thing is this is not true! We are something far bigger and far greater than imaginable. Though the people around us may not see it, the Lord our God can look past our mistakes and see who we truly are.
Here are six Bible verses that show us who God sees when He looks at us!
"So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." – Genesis 1:27
We are all made in His image. He thinks of us so highly that He decided to make us look exactly like Him. There is no greater honor than to be worthy of His likeness!
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:5
God loves us so much that He took the time to know us before He even created us! He knew our soul before our soul knew our body. He personally handcrafted us inside of our mothers' womb so that we were all uniquely and individually made into the people that He wants us to be.
"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him." – John 3:1
We are loved so much by the Lord that He calls us His own children! God loves each of us equally and unconditionally, watching over us and guiding us towards righteousness. The Lord is our perfect supporter, as He allows each of us to come to Him, our Father, in our times of need.
"For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." – 2 Timothy 1:7
In Christ, we have become fearless! We are made powerful, brave, and disciplined through Him. We are not shaken by what others say about us, for we know that we have become everything that we need to be in Christ.
"Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God." – 2 Corinthians 5:20
He believes in us so much that we are all called to be ministers of Christ! Ministry to God is not someone who can recite and memorize Scripture the best, but is someone who shows the love of Christ through his or her actions to others.
"Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience." – Colossians 3:12
We are all a chosen people of God! He calls on each of us to love others and to serve Him. Most often times in the way of helping others!
God created nothing short but masterpieces when He made us! It is through Him that we are all loved and forgiven, even when we are least deserving. We should not sell ourselves short based on how others view us or the mistakes that we have made because ultimately, we are not defined by the opinions of people, but are defined by who we are in the eyes of God!
