To My Best Friend: God Really Outdid Himself

Websters defines "Best Friend" as: "ones closest and dearest friend," but my best friend, Tayler, is so much more than that! Tayler is truly a one of a kind person. The qualities that make Tayler such a GREAT person are empathy, compassion, her love for God, being the BEST listener, and SOO many more. God was truly working over time when her made Tayler, and I think he always intended for us to be best friends! We have so many qualities that go hand in hand to create this amazing friendship!! Anytime I get good news, I immediately reach for my phone to text her because I know she is genuinely happy for me, and so supportive of everything I do. Tayler feels like much more than my best friend, it`s almost like we`re twins half the time ( our Olive Garden waitress even asked if we were twins once). We have this unspoken connection and we ALWAYS want the best for each other.

We have been friends for so many years and made an abundance of memories. Every time we`re together it feels like we create another story that we will look back on for years. One of my favorite memories of the two of us is from this summer when we went shopping, basically every day, and it was pouring rain. Neither one of us had our raincoats with us (because that's how it always happens) so here we are running through the rain, looking like fools. It`s always an adventure with the two of us. Some of the best adventures we have had were days where we got together after work and just ran errands together because Target trips are always more fun with your BFF!

Part of what makes us such good friends is that we both have the same sense of humor. We are always sending each other crazy Snapchats. If anyone else could see into our Snapchat or text thread, we would both be sooo embarrassed. Vine (R.I.P) is a shared love of ours, her name in my phone is "Hi and welcome to Chili`s" because we tend to quote vines to each other way too often, and that`s one of our shared favorites. Another shared interest is conspiracy theories. We go NUTS for a good conspiracy theory, and half of our text thread is us sharing conspiracy theories with each other.

A quality that is sometimes hard to find these days is a genuine LOVE for the lord, but Tayler goes way beyond that! She not only has an amazing spiritual relationship but encourages me in my relationship with God as well. We attend church services together, share our favorite bible studies, and pray for each other daily. I think this is truly one of the driving forces in our friendship! Tayler is the best friend any girl could ask for, and I know that even when we are four hours apart, we are always supporting each other!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
