Whether you are following the campaigns for the 2016 presidential campaign or not, you should know by now that this is an important election. Especially for the millennials, many of whom have not been eligible to vote in a previous presidential election. If you didn't vote in the primaries in your state, well shame on you, but you must vote, at any and all opportunities coming up.
I hear from many of my peers that all the candidates are bad and that they don't want to vote for anyone, but that is bull. Pardon my french, but one of the reasons that America is so desired by foreigners is because of the voting rights that have been fought for and won in our nation. We forget that voting is a privilege. For hundreds of years, people of color, women and even the poor, did not get the chance to have their voices heard in the democratic process. After years of battle and suffrage movements, our lazy society is letting down those who came before us, fighting for the rights of future generations. Exercising your right to vote is one of the most important features of our country, and by assuming that not voting is going to make any of the problems better you are just being ignorant. Even going to vote for the least worst candidate is better than not voting. Anything that will help lower the majority is essential in an election because otherwise we may end up with that idiot Trump as our president, and come on America I hope we are better than that, but maybe I am wrong, I challenge you to prove me right!
Our generation needs to act now. I know we are watching the debate and following the election because no matter the social media you use, it is everywhere, so take your opinions and be honored that you can vote. We have the power to change the course of our countries future, growing up I heard that the changes we want can happen, but our generation has to vote, we are a majority in this country, and right now is a turning point for us to show that we care about our countries future and that we believe positive change can occur. Let the adults be the ones who choose not to vote out of disgust for the candidates, so that we can be the difference.
The college educated population is a minority in our country, and we mustn't forget that. The reason that the front runners are who they are is because the people who are easily swayed by unsound thinking are the ones voting for them, the ones being brainwashed. We need to appreciate that we are receiving a higher education and use our knowledge to do what is right. I have faith in us, that we will pick the best candidate, which is why I am pushing you all to GO VOTE. I hope you would do it to honor those who came before us, fighting for justice, and earning us all the rights which we too often take for granted, or to participate in the democratic process that we have in this democratic republic of the USA, but at the very least educate yourself on the candidates, and do it for the sticker you get to add to your water bottle or your laptop case, because who doesn't one swag!
"Be the change you wish to see in the world."
