Go Natural, use Shea Moisture.
A couple of years ago, I was unsure about the best products to use while I was transitioning to natural hair. I had spent hundreds of dollars and countless weekends shopping at beauty supply stores trying to find a brand supportive of my hair needs: curly, thick and course. Most brands I tried left my hair in extreme conditions–my hair was either too dry or super greasy. On top of everything, the products contained excessive amounts of water and other unknown ingredients. The main reason for transitioning to natural hair is to grow, prevent breakage, and to decrease the usage of toxic chemicals. Well, it wasn’t until I watched Shameless Maya YouTube video, “My Curly Hair Products” which lead me to the brand my hair cannot live without, Shea Moisture.
Shea Moisture was founded by CEO Richelieu Dennis, grandson of Sofie Tucker. In 1912, Sofie Tucker was a widowed mother of four, who sold Shea Butter, African Black Soap, homemade hair and skin preparations all over the countryside of Sierra Leone. Richelieu Dennis brought the family legacy to the states, partnered with Target and now Shea Moisture is available to everyone!
Shea Moisture has an extensive hair line collections which includes over 80 natural hair products for all hair types with certified organic Shea butter.
The two products my hair cannot live without are Shea Moisture’s Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo and Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque.
The sulfate-free shampoo is created to cleanse, hydrate, and repair dry or over-processed hair. It includes sea kelp, argan oil, and shea butter. The sea kelp provides mineral-rich nutrition which seals and smooths the hair cuticle, the argan oil restores shine while helping promote hair elasticity, and the shea butter deeply moisturizes while conditioning hair and scalp. This shampoo gives an amazingly lush lather. It smells great, too.
The sulfate-free hair masque is an all-natural intensive treatment perfect for transitioning chemically treated hair to healthy natural hair. It should be applied to the hair after shampooing. The masque should be massaged into wet hair and left in for five to 45 minutes, then rinsed out.
Both products exclude: Parabens, Phthalates, Paraffin, Gluten, Propylene Glycol, mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, synthetic color, DEA, animal testing.
Go natural, use Shea Moisture. I recommend the two products above for anyone who is transiting into natural hair. Shea Moisture is a wonderful brand with great products.
