If You Wear Glasses, You'll See These 11 Facts To Be Nothing But TRUE

Everyone has heard all about what it's like to get glasses, but not what it's like when you've been wearing your glasses forever.

As someone who has worn glasses since I was 5, my glasses are a part of who I am. There are some things that, as a glasses wearer, are just normal to me and are a part of my everyday life. No one truly understands what it's like to live with glasses unless they've done it.

You know if you're near- or far-sighted

And that's the first thing you tell people when they try on your glasses, it how different your glasses are than the way that they see. You know what is the strong point with your eyesight.

You have your way of adjusting your glasses

Everyone has their style of adjusting their glasses. There's the same way that they always push their glasses back into the right spot and at this point, it's just habit. Odds are, you've done it for a long time and you're not going to be changing the way you do it any time soon

You think that people would stop trying on your glasses by age

By the time I got to college, I thought that it wouldn't be as fun of a game to try on glasses. However, now the majority of people that want to try on my glasses are people who also wear glasses. Normally we compare just how blind we are, but it reminds me of when I was younger and one of the only ones that wore glasses.

You probably know your prescription

Even though this one doesn't apply to me, most people I know ask me what my prescription is, and are ready to offer up their own for me.

Even when you aren't wearing glasses, you try and adjust them

There have been many times where I'm wearing my contacts and I try and push up my glasses in order to bring my contacts into focus. Pushing up my glasses is a habit, and one that I continue when I'm not wearing them.

You refer to yourself as blind

I know that I can't really see without my glasses on, and whenever anyone asks me how bad my vision is, I just tell them that I'm blind.

You cringe whenever someone else touches your glasses

When people who aren't me try and fix my glasses, put them back on my face or put them down somewhere, even if it's someone who's trying to be helpful, it still bothers me. I don't like to have other people touch them, and it's hard to accept help when it involves them.

You have a preference between glasses or contacts

There are certain times when I prefer to wear contacts and other times that I prefer glasses. I know that I wear my glasses more often than contacts, but other people prefer the opposite of me.

It bothers you when people wear glasses that don't need them

With the trend of fake glasses becoming popular again, it bothers me to see people wear them. I know that I have to wear glasses in order to see, and to see people use them as an accessory is something that bothers me, and always will.

You know how long you can go without cleaning them

The comment I get the most is that my glasses always need to be cleaned. I know that my glasses are a lot dirtier than some people's, but I also know when my glasses need to be cleaned in order for me to be able to see.

You know that you can't live without your glasses

My glasses are like another part of me, and I know that without them I wouldn't be able to get through my day just because my vision is so bad. My glasses are more than just an accessory, it's an important part of my life.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
