When you give a girl a little brother chances are her whole world will turn around in a heartbeat, but not in the way you think. At first, she may be disappointed because her dreams of getting a little sister are now just a distant memory. But, when you give her a little brother she learns a few things about herself that change her life.
She will push his buttons.
She will annoy him until he snaps, it’s the sibling thing to do. From hiding his favorite toys to bringing up all of his girlfriend's names in front of mom and dad, there’s nothing better than watching the kid squirm.
She'll get him to do her dirty work.
When you’re in a pinch you always have a backup plan, also known as “the little brother”. Like when you just absolutely had to hang out with that boy that mom and dad couldn’t know about and he covered for you.
The horrid smell of his hockey equipment doesn't even phase her.
Nothing smells worse than the inside of a hockey glove but when that smell becomes your basement aroma it’s hardly even noticeable. Along with all the other boyish smells around the house.
Her protective instincts start to kick in.
Not only will she have his back at all times but no girl will ever be good enough for him. Don’t even get me started on anyone that has ever tried to mess with him, she doesn’t allow it because only she can be the source of his teasing.
You give her someone to laugh with, fight with, and cry with.
He has been there from the beginning and we know each other like the back of our own hand. No matter what we experience in our lives, we will always be there for each other to lean on.
She gets the most honest advice from him.
He never holds back. He's not afraid to tell me when I look like crap or when I am wrong, which is most of the time. That kind of honesty is refreshing, especially when you need a kick in the butt now and again.
You give her a best friend for life.
Those random life talks in the kitchen, going out to dinner, or binge watching Netflix; I am always going to be there. No matter how hard he tries, he can’t get rid of me.
She’ll love him more than anything in the world.
There is no one in the world that I am more proud of than him. He has believed in me when I found it hard to believe in myself. He is the hardest working kid ever, and I don’t think you’ll meet a kinder young man. Thank you for being my punching bag, my shoulder to cry on and the best little dork of a brother I could have ever dreamed of having in my life.
