When You Give A Girl A Sister

It truly is a bond like no other.

When You Give A Girl A Sister
Mason Moorefield

When I was younger, I remember receiving the call from my mom telling me I was going to be a big sister. I was so excited to have a younger sister to hold and play with. Growing up, we played dolls, dress up, watched movies together, played games, and did what all sisters do. However, we also fought like cats and dogs. I hated it when she wanted to watch "Dora the Explorer" because I thought it was a "baby" show. I also hated it when she began to get older and wanted to watch everything that I did or copy whatever I was doing.

I hated how she was the baby of the family because let's all admit, they get that "special treatment." We have never had a perfect relationship. We fight over the smallest things and we get under each other's skin, but when times get tough, we are always there for one another. When my dad passed away, I think we both realized just how special life is and how quickly it can be taken away.

Our relationship grew stronger and we have been there for each other through the heartbreak of losing a father, breakups, the stress of school, and life in general. The bond that sisters have is special and it is unlike any other bond that you can have. They are one of the few people that will be there for you no matter what. My sister is getting ready to graduate high school and step out on her own and start her life as a college student. I cannot wait to watch her on her journey and see what amazing things she does in life.

However, this will be a big adjustment for us both. Yes, I have been in college for the past three years, but I come home just about every weekend to see her and my mom. This might not be the case for us next year. She will be living her new life and making her own memories and not seeing her will be hard, but I know she is going to do great things.

If you have a sister, let her know how much you love her. Let her know how much you appreciate her and how much she means to you. You will never have another relationship with anyone else like you have with your sister. It is a special bond and a special relationship. For me, it is a relationship that I don't want to ever have to live without and I can't imagine my life without having her.

Go do big things, El. I love you!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
