Dogs Are A Girl's Best Friend Too, And It's Time People Realize That

It's not only diamonds that are a girls best friend.

Dogs Are A Girl's Best Friend Too, And It's Time People Realize That

We all have heard the saying "diamonds are a girl's best friend" and although I do love diamonds, I have always wondered why such a superficial item has to be considered my best friend. We all have also heard the saying "dogs are a man's best friend." I'm here to set the record straight. I love dogs (especially mine) and the world deserves to know why dogs can be a girl's best friend, too.

1. They can be the perfect shotgun rider on (what would have been) a lonely road trip.

Little Miss Ellie is always up for a car ride to go see her mamaw or to the dog park, but pull into the pet store and she is shaking like a leaf in fear of getting her nails cut. Moral of the story: she is the best shotgun rider when you're going where she wants to go. Also, she is pretty awesome because she likes to jam out to Taylor Swift while driving down the road.

2. They stand guard 24/7 making sure nothing or no one can harm you.

Daisy is a kind, gentle soul unless you try to mess with her momma (AKA me).

3. They are fashionistas.

Because only the latest and most *pOpUlAr* trends will work for Daisy Cait.

4. They enjoy the sunshine and summer, just like you.

Gypsy was a one of a kind dog. Since her passing, I have had Ellie and Daisy, and although I love them just as much, no one can take the place of my Gypsy girl. My girl loved the sun (as you can tell by the smile on her face). She was a wonderful fishing partner and loved to swim in the lake, just like me.

5. You can pretend they are your children when you don't have any yet.

I like to wrap Ellie in blankets and rock her to sleep, like the precious baby she is.

P.S. When I have kids one day I will probs still treat my dogs like one of my children. Oops.

6. They don't mind doing the things you want to do, like play in the snow, because secretly they want to too.

To be an inside dog, Daisy loves the snow...not like you can tell by her frozen whiskers or anything. (She loved it so much she refused to come inside.) ~LOL~

7. They become more than your best friend.

All my dogs become more than my best friends. My dogs become family. When my fiance and I adopted Daisy we made a lifelong commitment to her. We promised to always keep her happy, feed her, and make her feel loved. This is a promise I always intend to keep because not once has she ever let me down, and I won't let her down.

8. They give the best cuddles and keep you nice and warm.

Dogs are perfect to keep you warm on cold nights. They also give the best cuddles and little puppy kisses, ever.

*I would also like to make it known that even if it were a hot summer night and they still wanted to cuddle, we all know we would still let them because they are too precious to tell no.

9. They always make you feel wanted.

No matter if you are gone for 5 minutes or 5 hours, dogs will always make you feel welcome when you come back home. It is awesome to walk in the house from a long day of work and school and see big round eyes, a wagging tail and hear whimpers of love. Who else would greet you at the door like that? No one.

10. They teach you how to love.

They are selfless. They would give you their last chew toy to make you happy. They know when you are sad, sick or hurting and come to cuddle your pain away. Dogs don't ask questions, dogs don't judge you...they just love you. I think we could all take a seat and let them teach us a lesson.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
