Battle Of The Sexes

Girls are crazy, boys are stupid.

Battle Of The Sexes

I think both sexes, male and female, wonder why the other is the way they are. It's something that has always interested me because I always try to find an explanation for things. So here's my attempt at uncovering the truth in the battle of the sexes. We have two main characters, Dude and Girlie (I feel like their names are pretty self-explanatory). They are both trying to figure each other's actions out. This starts off with both of them reflecting on their night last night.

Dude:

“OMG she’s psycho dude! I can’t believe she didn’t let me do that. I mean she knew what I meant by ‘Netflix’n’chill’, right?”

Girlie:

“OMG what a pig! That’s all guys ever want, huh? I can’t believe I even thought he was decent.”

What actually happened:

Dude invites Girlie over to the dorm to “Netflix’n’chill.” He has been flirting with her (and three other girls; she just happened to respond the fastest), and she’s been head over heels for him since he asked for her number at a party. While watching Netflix, Dude puts his arm around her and makes a move not even five minutes into the movie. Girlie then quickly reacts with a stunned face, rude look and a dramatic goodbye.

It’s honestly so funny to me to hear of scenarios such as this one. Someone once told me, “girls are crazy, guys are stupid.” And it really is true, but we have to jump into this topic a little bit more to fully understand it. What it really is, te fact that girls claim that they are crazy because guys are stupid while at the same time boys claim that they are "stupid" because girls are crazy. Let's take a look at another example.

Girls are crazy because boys are stupid:

Girls may be a little crazy. I can attest to this. But in our defense, we are crazy because guys just don’t. get. it. Like how do they not know what “I’m fine.” vs. “I’m fine” means. It’s so totally and incredibly obvious. The period says a lot. You'd think that by this age they would understand punctuation and its significance. Wow. Boys. Can’t live with them. Can’t live without them. Am I right?

Boys are stupid because girls are crazy:

Yeah I mean girls are psycho. Like who even uses periods and punctuation when they text? It’s the 21st century, ain’t nobody got time for that. But honestly, I did get that signal. I mean I have a sister. I just pretend sometimes not to see these kinds of things because it’s almost better that one. Ignorance is bliss my friends.

After testing our hypotheses, we can conclude that both sides claim that the other party is responsible for all of their issues or misunderstandings. But in reality, we cannot point fingers. One is just as culpable as the other. Just like fessing up to a crime, admitting you're wrong is hard as well. No one ever wants to do it especially if pointing a finger at the person next to you is so much easier. In end, both are the cause of the other. Girls may be crazy and boys may be stupid but it's only because one is a certain way. But the greatest part about that mismatch is the fact that you cannot have two of the same thing. It's the Yin and the Yang. One cannot be balanced without the other. The girls' craziness is balanced out by the guys' stupidity. This is why compatibility works as it does. It's like having the argument if the zebra is black with white stripes of white with black stripes. In the end, it doesn't mater because having the big big picture is what does.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
