To The Girl Without A Father

This is for every girl who has lost her dad.

To The Girl Without A Father
The Parent Cue

To the girl who doesn't have a father, I understand you.

I understand that sometimes things feel a little less special. Things that you wish your father could see or be a part of. Graduation, for example, is an amazing experience but you find yourself not smiling as much because it feels like something or someone is missing.

I understand that when Father’s Day comes around, you can’t help but feel sad and happy at the same time. It’s sometimes hard to watch everyone being happy with their dads, when all you have left are memories. Hold on to those memories as long as you can, they will help you out one day.

I understand that when people say they hate their father, it makes you so mad! You sometimes have to remind people that it could be worse. They could have no father at all. Just because you are fighting right now, doesn’t mean you will always be fighting. So love your father like there is no tomorrow because one day there won’t be.

I understand that planning your future can sometimes be hard because there are certain things only a dad can do. Things like walk you down the aisle or be the best grandpa ever to your children. It can be hard to think of all those things. However, remember that they are in the future and not in the present. Think about all the things you can control and not the ones you can’t control.

Just because you don’t have that father figure in your life, does not make you weaker than anyone. Remember that. You had one less parent around and that sometimes means you have to grow up a lot faster than others. THAT’S OKAY!! Embrace it. You are astounding and amazing. All that being said, you can still feel weak or sometimes lost. Just never forget who you are and remember that all bad things happen in a single moment. The feelings from them can last forever but they eventually weaken over time.

I understand it is hard at times but if any of you are like me, you know that failing is not an option. Even though our fathers are in a different/better place doesn’t mean they aren’t watching over us on. Imagining that my father is cheering me on through my rough days helps me get through them.

So to all of my fellow daughters out there, when you are feeling all alone, and sad, just remember that you are not alone. You can do anything you want. You don’t let anyone feel sorry for you because you are an independent, strong, talented, amazing, woman.

Sincerely,

A girl who understands

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
