Dear You,
Yeah, you. The girl who thinks she isn't good enough. The girl who is basing her worth on her size.
STOP.
Stop calling yourself fat. Stop looking in the mirror and hating who you are because you're already perfect in your own skin.
The media says you have to be 6' tall and 115 pounds, but that's not healthy. You cannot compare yourself to these so-called beauty standards that don't actually promote anything other than living an unhealthy lifestyle and body shaming.
Don't keep putting yourself down or, even worse, starving yourself because you want to be stick-thin. No one is that thin in real life; not even the models who appear like they are.
It's called airbrush.
Airbrush is not real, but you are, and you're beautiful.
Trust me, I've had those days too where I compared myself to everyone and constantly feel like it's an uphill battle. But the world will continue and the world wants you here.
Don't wait to realize that you're not overweight.
Don't wait until you're hooked up to machines in a hospital fighting for your life.
Don't wait until you turn to ulterior methods to hide the pain you are feeling because you feel like you're not good enough.
Don't wait until you're counting the calories in water when you add lemonade flavoring to it.
Stop listening to this narrative that unless you're lighter than air, you're fat because it's not true.
Our society has put unrealistic expectations on everyone and everything. Heck, I'm sure the tiniest person on the planet should still lose weight by the world's standards.
Wake up, look in the mirror and love what you see. Because the only thing failing here is today's standards, not you.
