Have you ever been a Girl Scout or a Girl Guide?

Have you ever been told by another person that being a Girl Scout is stupid, and that you should drop it?

Did you listen to them?

I was a Girl Scout and I was told that it was stupid and that I should drop it. But unlike most of the girls that I started with, I stayed through until the very end and my senior year of high school. My Girl Scout leaders gave me my lifetime membership as a graduation present and I feel that I can never say thank you enough to them for that. I can honestly say that so much of my life has been influenced by the things that I was able to do with Girl Scouts. Over the years, I spent six weeks on Mackinac Island with Girl Scouts as an honor scout. Having the experience of being an honor scout is what helped me get my job this summer in Mackinaw City for the Mackinac State Historic Parks. I was given the chance every summer to go to scout camp. I had the chance to be a leader in a small group and to help be a leader in a large group.

Have you ever thought of the fact that several famous women have been Girl Scouts? Have you ever thought that maybe Girl Scouts helps young women become successful later in life. You should never tell a girl to quit if it is what they love and what they want to do.

There have been many sucessful, famous, inspirational woman who have become Girl Scouts, Here's nine just to name a few.

1) Michelle Obama

2) Queen Elizabeth II

3) Barbra Walters

4) Hillary Clinton

5) Martha Stewart

6) Katie Couric

7) Queen Latifiah

8) Mariah Carey

9) Taylor Swift

Each one of these women have been successful in their own way. Next time you hear that a young woman is a Girl Scout do not tell them to quit, because they may end up being famous and successful like all of these women. I am proud to be a Girl Scout and I am proud of the experiences that I have had with Girl Scouts, along with what I have learned from it.

“On my honor, I will try:

To serve God and my country,

To help people at all times,

And to live by the Girl Scout Law.”

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
