We all have them. Those girls we saw on the big screen or heard on the radio, and thought, Wow, she is awesome, or Damn, I wish I was her!
Here are my top eight celebrity girl crushes:
1. Blake Lively
Who doesn’t love Blake Lively? From her role as the carefree and spirited Bridget in "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," to her more elite role as the queen of the Upper East Side on "Gossip Girl," Blake always brings an aura of confidence and an unwitting power over men to her characters. I stuck by her side through six seasons of "Gossip Girl" and was devastated at the end when she married Dan instead of Nate (Chace Crawford is my favorite). But luckily, her real life husband is the oh-so-beautiful Ryan Reynolds (I can only imagine how adorable their little girl is). Blake has always inspired me to be confident and proud of who I am, like she was as Serena van der Woodsen!
2. Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift’s soothing voice and harshly truthful lyrics have gotten me through some bad breakups, makeups and all that lies in between. She has been there for me when I needed a wise and unbiased third-party opinion, and she has taught me to just “shake it off” when life doesn’t seem to go my way! I also have Taylor to thank for helping me to accept my sometimes awkward and quirky personality, because she is known to be the queen of awkward (just watch the "Shake It Off" video, and you’ll understand what I mean).
3. Jennifer Aniston
Even at 46 years old, Jennifer Aniston still looks fabulous. She first stole my heart as Rachel Green in my all time favorite show, "Friends." Rachel was funny, brutally honest and slightly boy crazy (a trait that my friends have informed me I also have). There isn’t a Jennifer Aniston movie that I haven’t liked (minus "We’re The Millers"), and each role that she holds makes me respect her more and more as an actress! Plus, her Aveeno ads inspire me to wear my sunscreen, because I would love to look as good as she does 25 years from now!
4. Lauren Conrad
Ugh, good old LC. I feel like I grew up with Lauren (even though she is eight years older than I am) because I watched her transform from the Stephen-loving high school LC into the fabulous, strong-minded Lauren Conrad that she became when she moved from "Laguna Beach" to "The Hills." The way she handled the Heidi situation made me realize that she is smarter than she got credit for. She never let people walk all over her, but instead she put her foot down and was honest about her feelings in both friendship and relationship situations. Thank you LC, for letting me live vicariously through your lavish Orange County life! Your constant drama made me feel a little bit better about anything going on in my own life.
5. Amanda Bynes (Pre-Mental Breakdown)
"She’s The Man" is definitely in the running for my all-time favorite movie, and I have the old, pre-mental breakdown Amanda Bynes to thank for that (and of course the sexy Channing Tatum). Not only did she embody the idea of girl power and prove that girls can do anything just as well as guys can, but she also was absolutely hilarious and made a splash as an awesome actress. We also can’t forget one of her first big debuts on "The Amanda Show." Dancing lobsters, anyone? (Get well, girl!)
6. Katy Perry
“I kissed a girl and I liked it” is a line that only Katy Perry could turn into a hit song. Aside from her wild lyrics, Katy is one of the only people on the planet who could wear a cupcake and make it look hot! Her different style and personality makes her stand out and encourages girls all over the world to embrace being different! On top of her fun style, she also creates music that inspires a wide range of activities from girls' night out to dropping it low on the dance floor! Plus, even my brother, who rarely deviates from his intense rap and hip-hop music, loves to blast Katy Perry — that’s really saying something!
7. Hilary Duff
There is only one caption suitable for the gif above ... “This is what dreams are made of.” Hilary Duff gave me my first glimpse at a real life fairy tale in "A Cinderella Story." She and Prince Charming, Chad Michael Murray, swooped me up in their adorable romance and gave me hope at a young age that my own Prince Charming would find me one day (hopefully at a football game in the pouring rain). We can’t forget about Lizzie McGuire though, the awkward junior high school version of Hilary, who ended up coming out on top when she randomly became an international pop sensation. If you haven’t seen "The Lizzie McGuire Movie," you are sincerely missing out!
8. Alex Guarnaschelli
My final girl crush would have to be the always-intimidating Alex Guarnaschelli. From harshly judging contestants food on the hit series "Chopped" to battling it out in Iron Chef Stadium, she is one tough cookie in the kitchen. As an aspiring foodie with a recently sparked interest in cooking, I absolutely love watching Alex crush the competition on various cooking shows and hope to one day be able to re-create some of her amazing-looking dishes!
