Nothing excites me more than hearing the upbeat, lively words that seem to magically drift from the mouth of music legend, Carole King, whenever an episode of Gilmore Girls begins. Nothing brings me more happiness than when Rory takes a surprise trip from Yale to visit her family and, without a doubt, there is no person on TV who is more enduring yet agitating than Kirk.
All these things seem so familiar to a longtime Gilmore Girls fan like myself, yet, there are multitudes of young females who have yet to see the groundbreaking series that have already inspired so many people across the country.
So, to celebrate the revival of one of the best mother-daughter duos to ever grace the television screen. I would like to gift you all with a list of the many reasons why I love Gilmore Girls and can't wait to see it back on the screen...
1. The totally adorable relationship between Luke and Lorelai.
Whether they were friends, "friends", or engaged the relationship of Luke and Lorelai was always an up in the air subject. When themselves had no idea what their relationship status was, neither did the audience. It was challenging at times and such an annoyance because in the end, all we wanted was to see our favorite cool mom and diner owner together as they should have been from the beginning. We all knew Max Medina and Christopher were not the ones for the first of our two favorite Gilmore Girls. Hopefully, our original OTP is still going strong in the revival. Speaking of Chris....
2. What's up with Christopher?
Although not the chosen one for Lorelai, Chris was such an important factor in the series. I mean come on, Rory's dad was bound to make a guest appearance sometime and oh boy, when he did show his face, some of the best storylines happened (getting married to Lorelai in Paris???).
3. Ambitious Rory, leaving her mark on the world.
Be honest, what girl did not want to be as equally brainy and gorgeous as the always sweet and down-to-earth, Rory Gilmore. I mean, she had the coolest mom, like ever. She was bright enough to get to Yale. She was Yale Daily New's editor-in-chief (jealous). I don't think I've even mentioned the the fact that she had the cutest boyfriends ever in Dean, Jess, and Logan (TEAM JESS). Everything an everyday girl like me aspires to be. Ahhh, one day......
4. Stars Hollow.
It's the most adorable TV town to date. Babette, Mrs. Patty, Taylor, Kirk, and a slew of others gave the town the perfect amount of charm to put it on the list for one of the cutest fictional towns everrrrr.
5. The Gilmore Girls. The Gilmore's coffee.
If there is one thing that I know people can relate to, it is Lorelai and Rory's unconditional love for not only each other but coffee as well. Rory, although a firm believer in the power of coffee, did not the kind of need that her mother possessed for the concoction. Like she once stated if she would even attempt to go without her daily dose of coffee she would “stop doing the standing and walking and the words putting into sentence doing.”
6. Dialogue, Humor, Cast? All on point.
Quick banter, personality, and witty, sarcastic jokes. It's the magic the originally attracted masses of devoted Gilmore Girls fans. Of course, without the brilliant writing of queen, Amy Sherman-Palladino, we would not have the glorious, classic, always relatable, and completely lovable show that we today call the Gilmore Girls.
7. Lastly, the gals who make everything come full circle, the Gilmore Girls. Lorelai and Rory Gilmore.
The beautiful, sarcastic pairing mother-daughter duo that can make any situation become topsy-turvy yet worth watching. What more can I say?
Hopefully, some of our old favorites from the series make a guest appearance in the revival.
