Gifts To Give And Keep This Holiday Season

Every year, I go shopping for friends and family and end up keeping a majority of the gifts for myself. I think this happens because I usually find something so unique and cool that I have a hard time parting with it; or I'm just a genuinely selfish and awful human being. Fortunately, a recent study conducted by The National Retail Federation reported that nearly 60 percent of shoppers are buying presents for themselves, or keeping presents they were originally supposed to gift to someone else. That means if I am an awful human, at least I'm in good company. Nothing like a little greed to get you into the holiday spirit! I personally don't see anything wrong with treating yourself every once in a while, but I do admit it's not the best feeling when you see a loved one unwrap the same coffee mug they gave you last year.

These gifts are cool and creative, and cheap enough to buy two of, meaning you won't be labeled a grinch this holiday season.

1. R2-D2 Cupcake Pan, $9.99.

These will taste way better than that expensive authentic lightsaber they asked for.

2. WineRack, $29.99.

Perfect gift for a girl that's a huge sports fan, and if you're a guy you definitely won't want to keep this gift -- unless that's what you're into. That's cool, too. If boobs aren't for you, then let her sneak in the alcohol with this innovative sports bra. Once you're inside, you can both take sips from the conveniently long straw. Definitely a win-win gift.

3. Portable Humidifier, $8.51.

Definitely a mom gift, but you'll want one when that cold and dry weather comes around.

4. Pizza Saw, $12.28.

Epic!

5. ManaTEA Infuser, $9.99.

Give your favorite tea drinker a cute little companion.

6. Bacon, whiskey, and coffee soap, $25.99

At $25.99, this may seem a little pricey at first, but it comes with three bars of soap -- which means you can gift two and keep one for yourself. Dibs on the bacon one.

7. Middle Finger Paper Clips, $10.

For your most sarcastic of friends.

8. Never-Soggy Cereal Bowl, $13.99.

Revolutionary!!

9. Triceratops Hat for Dogs, $9.44.

Your dog will definitely love it -- just look how happy he looks!

10. Lion Hat for Cats, $2.99.

Cat also seems thrilled!

11. Colorful Fireplace Flames, $8.78.

Turn up the heat this winter at your bonfire and a friends.

12. Candy Sushi Kit, $3.36.

This is $3.36 for ultimate sushi making fun? Buy a million!

Happy gifting!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
