7 Gifts For The Resident Cute Goth In Your Life
Maddy McKeever

Sometimes it's hard to know what to get a gift for a friend. It's even harder to know if your friend likes spooky things you know nothing about. Sometimes, just buying something black won't suffice to sacrifice to your otherworldly horrorterror for their birthday. So, if you are at a loss, let this cryptid give you some ideas for that resident cute goth you call special.

Scarecrow Fangs

Nothing says boo-tiful like a fun pair of vampire fangs to wear around to events. A pair normally only runs for about $17.95, they are snap-fit to clip on and off, and are both non-toxic and safe on your teeth. Wear them in October, for fun special events, or everyday if you feel like taking a bite out of life.

But them on Amazon.

Black Bath Bombs

There is nothing that makes you feel more like the ruler of the Underworld than bathing in darkness. Not only watching them bubble out like a witches brew, but then getting to soak in shadows is amazing.

I also know lush has an amazing black bath bomb called 'Secret Arts' which is made with seaweed (don't get weirded out yet, it's cool) that makes the water basically into jelly. Not only nice for your skin, but fun to play with!

Intimate Bath makes a low cost black bath bomb you can find on Amazon.

But it now.

Chokers

Jewelry in general is always a safe gift guess, but chokers are a goths best friend. Whether it's simple ones just made out of stretchy plastic that you get at Claire's, or it's intricate jewels and skulls, it's always a go to for every gender.

Not only that, but don't be afraid to give some color to your undead friends if you don't want to get black. I tend to like dark gemstone colors, but there are some cute pastel goths out there who I'm sure would love pink ribbon chokers.

Bat Wings Backpack

Having animal shapes backpacks is a craze I am totally behind, especially if it means I can have not only bags shapes like coffins, but bags with wings now too. However, unlike some of the others gifts on this list, there don't seem to be any main brands making these products.

Monsters Plush

Why have a monster under your bed when you can have them on top cuddling you instead? Little creepy crawlies are always cute in plushie form.

I know that Beanie Babies make a lot of holiday themed creatures, including Halloween creatures, such as black cats and ghosts. There are also some really fun monsters called Uglydoll toys, such as fun green eyeballs and black bats with crooked teeth.

I personally like the Universal Studios brand Little Monster dolls, which I found at Target last Halloween. They have the option of a mummy, Frankenstein, Mrs. Frankenstein, swamp monster, werewolf, and even Dracula (who I desperately still need to get!).

A parasol

This is a gift for the pale vampire in your life. It may look like an umbrella, but instead of protecting you from the rain, a parasol protects you from the sun. Umbrellas are made with rain-resistant plastic fabric, while parasols are made of light cloth or paper. They are often light weight and highly decorated with patterns, images, and lace.

I happen to own one parasol in plain black lace, and it is a savior in the summer months when even my summer goth garb is still too warm under the blazing sun.

You can find these in many boutiques, or can even make your own. I altered mine from sheer lace and added a cotton underside to protect me more form the sun because I burn so easily. I want one in red tor purple though, not just black, so don't be afraid to get one with flowers or such on it for your resident cute goth. Accent colors in black help the parasol reflect more heat!

Evil Supply Co. Merch

https://evilsupply.co/

Let me tell you, you should read the info page for this evil paper goods online store. I read it whenever I am in a bad mood, and it makes me smile every time.

This place has cards, mugs, pins, planners, clothes, and more. Some of my favorites that you should read the descriptions of are:

'Coworkers Blood Menu' and 'Bodies Hidden' under Planners

'Thank You From My Cold Black Heart', 'Undead Congrats', and 'Some Kind Words' under Greeting Cards

I'm also partial to their Sleepy Shirts in which they are literally shirts that say things like 'sleepy bat' or 'sleepy gorgon' on them that I would shamelessly wear 24/7.

If you are willing to pay a little more for some unique items, I would suggest shopping around some goth Etsy stores. I've found many a creepy accessory there to put on my wish list.

However, if you are looking for some guaranteed places to find gifts for your gothfriend year-round, I recommend Amazon, Hot Topic, Dolls Kill, and Evil Supply Company.

Don't forget to get black wrapping paper!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
