We're simpler than we seem.

It is officially Christmas season! That means it's time for lots of love and giving, including gift giving. If you're wondering what your average college girl wants for Christmas, this list is a great source. These are some of the things we've wanted but can't afford, things we need but always forget to buy, or just things that would be useful in general.

1. Socks

We literally love socks so much. We don’t want plain socks. We want socks with unicorns or avocados on them. We want quirky socks that we can wear to be seen or not to be seen. Since it’s winter season we prefer them in crew sock form. We will also take fuzzy socks. Seriously, we love socks. Also our feet get cold sometimes.

2. Gift cards for food

We are broke college students. We like food, especially food that is not dorm food. Any food gift card will do, but probably not restaurants because we don’t really have time to sit down very often.

3. Chapstick

Eos, Burts Bees, actual Chapstick brand, really any type of chapstick is fine, those will always get used.

4. A Love Your Melon Beanie

We see girls around campus with them. They are adorable. They also donate half their proceeds to charity, so it’s a win win situation.

5. Card games/board games

College life can get boring sometimes. You become pretty cool when you have a new game to play with your friends.

6. Patagonia Sweatshirt

Again, we see everyone wearing them around campus. We try very hard to not want what everyone else has, but they look so warm and comfy and cozy and easy to style. Also their proceeds support good causes as well.

7. Sweatpants

They have a specific sweatpants in some stores called the dorm pant… those will work, or any type of loungewear honestly. It gets cold. Also on the weekends, if we aren’t out doing something, we stay inside and snuggle up with Netflix and some hot cocoa- who am I kidding, we do this nearly every night.

8. Rain jacket

This light waterproof jacket is even good for only slightly chilly days.

9. Flannels

Again, easy to style. They look good by themselves, with a vest, underneath a sweater, with a scarf… the possibilities are endless.

10. Vest

If we don’t have one, we want one. Again, partially because everyone else has one and partially because they’re super warm and cozy and add to any outfit.

11. Hats

Sometimes we don’t feel like washing our hair. Baseball hats are lifesavers and are only $2.97 at Walmart…

12. Hair ties

We lose those a lot. (this also applies to bobby pins but our hais almost never gets done so those aren’t as necessary).

13. Cash

This is a no brainer. If you don’t like giving cash you can also donate to our student accounts. All you need is our ID number which we will happily give to you. This is in fact an anytime gift. Feel free to surprise us.

14. Pictures

We probably have a wall of photos in our dorm because we miss you all very much. We also don’t really have time to print out pictures on our own.

15. Your love

Honestly being home for a month is enough. We love spending time with the family since we’ve been deprived of it for so long- just don’t annoy us too much. (the same rules apply for friends).

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
