Hey guys! I'm back with another book review. This time I'll be reviewing a book titled "The Ghost and the Dead Man's Library" written by Alice Kimberly. Its the third book in the "Haunted Bookshop Mystery series" following "The Ghost and the Dead Deb."
"The Ghost and the Dead Man's Library" takes place in the small sleepy town of Quincott. It all starts when Penelope Thorton-McClure's, one of our main protaganists, Aunt Sadie is given a set of a rare Edgar Allen Poe book collection by an old friend. Soon after Aunt Sadie was given this collection, her old friend, Peter Chelsey, is found dead. The local police think that the death of Peter Chelsey was an accident. While Penelope isn't so sure of that, the last thing she wants is to get involved in another murder investigation she does nothing, I mean what are the odds? But when one of her customers dies shortly after buying one of the books from the collection. She soon finds herself trying to clear her and her aunt's names as they are accused of stealing the rare and valuable book. Seeing as the collection is rumored to have a secret code, the 'Poe Code,' that leads to some kind of treasure. So in an effort to clear her name, Penelope and Jack, their resident ghost, hit the pavement and try to figure out the mystery of the 'Poe Code.'
I really enjoyed "The Ghost and the Dead Man's Library" and "The Haunted Bookshop Mystery series" as a whole. I honestly have no complaints. I really like the dynamic that Penelope and Jack have when working together. I find their banter back and forth extremely humorous. Although, "The Ghost and the Dead Man's Library" isn't my favorite out of the entire series I would still recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery.
