There comes a point in our lives when we realize that our jeans just don't fit like they used to. But don't feel bad, everyone goes through this stage at one point in our lives. So you come to this realization that your jeans no longer fit, and all of the sudden you turn out this awesome plan to get healthy and back in shape. Sometimes this involves other people, like a roommate or best friend, and you both are determined to fit back into those jeans for fall. An elaborate plan that involves healthy food, hours in the gym, and talk of training for a marathon is schemed
After your plan is complete, it's time to throw out all of that junk food and replace it with fruit, granola, vegetables, and other nutritious items. This seems super fun at first, and you know it's good for you, but throwing out those potato chips is the hardest thing you've had to do all year.
The next step is to lace up those running shoes and head to the gym. You're eager and excited, so you pick up some weights, do some squats, and work those pounds off! This first day is great, it always is. You are confident and full of energy.
The next morning is a different story, though, when muscles you didn't know you had feel like they're on fire.
And you realize it's because you wanted to get in shape.
But you are still motivated to fit back into those jeans, so you lace up your shoes, grab a granola bar, and head back to the gym, knowing that you have to stick to your plan and are going to have to try again.
By the third or fourth day, you might be getting a little bored with your routine-- that's normal. You also might be really sore.
So change it up! Don't let a little boredom discourage you from fitting back into those jeans! It's also good for your body to change it up and rotate different routines to give your muscles a break.
There will be days when you feel like you will lose your mind if you don't eat 12 large pizzas, 100 cookies, and your roommate, but try to remember to limit the intake of junk food.
There will also be days where you just want to give up completely.
Or wonder why you haven't lost weight yet because you've been at the gym 7 days in a row.
Please don't get discouraged, it's so important to be healthy, especially if you are a college student. Just remember to not push yourself too hard and do what you can. Whether you work out for 30 minutes or two hours, it's all better than nothing. But after changing over to a healthy lifestyle of eating right and working out, you will start seeing changes in your body. And before you know it, those jeans will fit better than ever!
