One thing that seems to always be a problem for the college student who is on a holiday break is when we realize start to realize that it is coming to a close. The end is drawing near and all we’ve been doing is anything outside of a routine fashion. So here’s how we get that groove back.
Don’t lie. This winter break has been one of binge watching Netflix and partying. A long with the excitement of being home for practically a month with zero responsibilities the holiday season comes with festivities and parties that pressure you into eating food that doesn’t agree with anyone’s waist line and not to mention you are probably excessively drinking. Not to mention you’re probably hitting the booze a little harder because you’re glad 2016 is coming to a close. This year has been ridiculous and we all know it. So we’re all in the same boat guys. No worries, but now is the time where it’s starting to come to an end. All our endless fun is now ending and we have this love-hate feeling towards it. We’re excited that we get to go back to school, but we hate that we actually have to GO BACK to school. New Years is over and hopefully you got all of this out of your system and spent your New Years the way you wanted to and with who you wanted to. If not, that is unfortunate but now is the time to try and start getting back into the swing of things! Mix it up. Surprise your liver with some water; he/she will thank you. Get back on that gym grind so that when you go back to the campus recreation center you look like you haven’t skipped a beat. Set your alarm a little early so you can prepare your body to get back on a proper sleep schedule. Especially if you aren’t a morning person. Imagine how more brutal the mornings will be back when school starts back up.
Also, don’t wait till the last minute to get back to school and start getting things ready for Monday. Because let’s be real syllabus week isn’t a real thing. Maybe the first two days of it are, but after that you’re back on the college student grind. Get on top of things now while you still can. You’ll enjoy the fact that you have gotten a grip on your life and started to get yourself back in a working fashion. It may not be a perfect working fashion, but at least you’ve started a bit early. So it’s important to start getting back in the swing of things before college life smacks in the face and says “hey, remember me?” You’ll be able to kick off your spring semester strong and ready for the challenges that lie ahead. I mean I’m not a doctor. I’m just a guy sitting behind a screen making suggestions, you do what you want. If you do take my advice though you might have a head start on your upcoming semester. You never know.
