Getting back into your daily routine at your college can be tough. You might miss your friends, family, loved ones, and pets etc. You miss the everyday life of relaxing at home and watching your favorite TV shows on Netflix. For some students it's week 3 of the spring semester or for others it might be week 2. Life can be rough and you have a heavier load of academic classes on your shoulders or personal dilemmas in your life.
Life can be challenging and you may encounter some bumps in the road. You might not understand what is going on in class, your sleep schedule, or personal health is not at it's best. I'm here to say that is okay and that you are going to make it! If you had a rough start in your previous semester and really want to improve yourself overall I would recommend writing a goal list. It is never too late to write down your goals and all you need is a pen and paper.
Get a sheet a paper and write your top five goals for this semester. I would recommend your first goal to be academically based. Some popular suggestions I would recommend would be making it onto Dean's List, increase your G.P.A, get an A in a certain subject etc.
The second goal should now focus on networking and getting to know important people on campus who will help you succeed in your college career. It can be by doing lab work, independent study, becoming an teacher assistant, heading to conferences, or getting an internship during the summer or academic year.
Then the third goal should be focused on yourself as an individual or on personal circumstances. It can be going to the gym more often, socializing to make new friends, remaining positive, staying organized etc.
For the last two goals I would focus on doing something out of your comfort zone and getting to know the community where you live. Doing something new will allow you to grow character and slowly overcome any fears you have. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
Lastly, getting to know your community is important and you can volunteer in local organizations or homeless shelters. It feels good to make a difference in the world whether it be big or small. Giving back allows you to see how many people are in need and to appreciate the small things in life.
Once you have written all of those goals, I recommend looking at it before you go to sleep or waking up to start your day. You can also take a picture of it and put it as your screen locker. Visualization is key.
Best of luck to everyone in the spring semester and I hope this helped! May you reach all of your goals and have positive vibes on tough days. Thank you.
