11 Reasons To Get Yourself A Man Like Barack Obama

Woah, everyone calm down. This is not a political article. Over the past eight years of President Obama's time in office, I have come to genuinely love this guy. I'm not talking about his policies and beliefs as a Democrat. No, I just actually love this dude as a person, a father, a friend, and a husband. Everybody deserves to be Obama-cared about. Here are a few characteristics about Barack that everyone should look for in a significant other:

1. Barack is exceptional with children.

Whether it is organizing Trick-or-Treating at the White House, making a baby stop crying, or telling corny dad jokes at the Turkey Pardon, President Obama has an undeniable bond with children.

2. He loves his own children more than life.

"Of all that I've done in my life, I am most proud to be your dad." -Barack Obama at his final farewell address

3. He knows how to be a best friend.

Sure, some of these memes are a little exaggerated, but the bromance is real. President Obama even awarded Vice President Biden with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States. Obama always found time to manage his work and his family while still taking out time to hang out in the man cave with Joe.

4. He's a good dancer.

Get a man who knows how to shake it.

5. He won't abandon you.

"I never really knew my own father. I was raised by a single mom. That's why I try every day to be, for Michelle and my girls, what my father was not for my mother and me." -Barack Obama at Morehouse College Commencement Ceremony in 2013

6. He is hilarious.

Ok, so this joke might not have worked out as planned, but it still had everyone rolling laughing. And who can forget Obama's "Anger Translator" Keegan-Michael Key at the White House Correspondent's Dinner this past year? Have you considered a career in comedy, Barack?

7. He knows how to have a good time.

Even after eight years in the White House doing the most difficult job in America, this man can STILL be this happy on his much-deserved vacation.

8. His wife is a powerhouse, and he fully supports her for it.

A lot of guys I have met in college are intimidated by powerful women like Michelle in fear that these women might outshine them, but not my dude Barack. Michelle has been one of the most influential and ground-shaking First Ladies in history, yet President Obama does not hide her in the White House or use her for publicity and photo ops. Instead, he is her biggest fan and shows her off any time he can.

9. He understands the significance of sexual assault.

"Real men do not hurt women. Those of us who are fathers have a special obligation to make sure every young man out there understands that being a man means recognizing sexual violence and being outraged by it and doing their part to stop it... You are not alone; I got your back." -Barack Obama's January 25, 2014, Weekly Address

10. He believes everyone should be treated as equals.

Under President Obama's administration and advocacy, gay marriage was legalized in all 50 states. Not only does he believe in equality based on sexuality and gender, but also equality for women and those from all types of socioeconomic backgrounds.

11. He's just smooth.

Everyone deserves a Barack Obama in their life. Everyone deserves to feel like this.

In the meantime, I'll just wait for my Obama in shining armor. Thanks, Obama.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
