So as we all know a hurricane is quickly approaching the east coast of the United States. And what do most people do when they hear hurricane, well especially in the south they make bunkers and hide out till it passes. I admit on a semi-regular basis I tend to have these same instincts, which are as follows:
1. Make sure you buy milk and bread during stormy times, I am not sure what to do with them but we will have them in our house.
2. Check the news hourly to make sure whether or not school or work has been cancelled yet. This also means you do not have to make social interaction during this time as well.
3. Make sure you have hot chocolate because it is about to get cold and rainy.
4. Make sure you have a good series you want to watch on Netflix because it is going to be a long weekend. In case you were wondering Vampire Diaries season 6 is now available as of 10-01-15 on Netflix. You are welcome.
5. Make sure you have lots of snack food, because there is no way we will be going out in this weather.
6. Do not worry about make-up during this time. First of all if you did step outside with make-up on you will end up looking like a drowned rat and secondly if you do not leave the house what is the purpose of make-up.
7. Do not worry about how you dress, let us go back to the previous point. Who are you trying to impress from within your home?
8. If you are one of those brave adventuring souls, go out and try to brace yourself for the storm. Oh and in the process make the roads unsafe for those of us who are forced by society to go out.
But if I know anything from the few years I have lived in the south it is this, southern people tend to think storms seem to signify the end of the world and think that if they stay in their homes they will stay safe from it all. Up north and in the midwest, they tend to stay inside for the first couple of hours and then try to brace the storm. I am not sure which way is best, but either way we all have our ways of coping with an impending doom.
