Attention all Potterheads: hold onto your wands because the Wizarding World of Harry Potter may be hosting its very own Yule Ball! Yes, a real life, bona fide Yule Ball with music and dancing! For all the muggles out there, a Yule Ball is a formal dance held on Christmas Day during the year in which the Triwizard Tournament is taking place; the ball was featured in the fourth Harry Potter book, The Goblet of Fire.
According to the "Orlando Informer," guests of Universal Orlando were asked to take part in a survey for potential holiday events, with one of the most exciting options being a “Yule Ball and Great Dance Hall Dinner" at the Wizarding Wold of Harry Potter. Other Harry Potter specific event ideas included a night time show at Hogwarts Castle using 3D projection and lights, or a holiday party in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. The Yule Ball would be a special ticketed event during which “guests wear dress robes and dine/dance at a festive holiday Yule Ball with themed music, dancing, food and beverages.”
Ever since its grand opening in 2010, Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando has been a magical hub for muggles obsessed with Harry Potter. The real life renderings of Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade make visitors feel like they have been transported to the real wizarding world. And to make the Wizarding World even more amazing than it already is, if that is even possible, the park is now considering a new slate of immersive experiences, i.e. the Yule Ball.
According to the "Orlando Informer," "The special holiday party, which the survey explains would hypothetically take place on select December nights, would include special performances, ride access, a delicious holiday treat, and non-alcoholic beverages." They also reported that "Pricing was a large topic when surveying about this event, with the survey asking how much is too expensive and too low."
Unfortunately, tickets will probably be harder to get than a Firebolt broom. Last December, Warner Brothers Studio in London held a "Dinner in the Great Hall." Tickets to the feast, which took place in the iconic set decorated with original props, cost around $349 and sold out almost instantly.
Despite the fact that the ball is not for certain yet, you should not waste time in preparing for the magical event; start searching now for the perfect robes, as well as the perfect partner (hopefully Viktor Krum is available), for the ball. This event will surely be in high, high demand, so make sure to have a bottle of Felix Felicis nearby when tickets go on sale. And don't forget to practice your dance moves!
