This election season it seems like many Americans are saying something like, "I don't know who I want,
they're all pretty terrible," or, "I don't know if I'm going to vote because all the candidates are terrible." I would like to remind all Americans of the importance of voting.
I personally am one of the least political people you'll find out there. Talking about politics can be interesting but basically everyone is just so set in their ways it just ends up in a screaming match and a lot of arguing. I really have tended to stay away from politics in the past. But this is my first voting season for a presidential candidate and I have started to become more interested in becoming educated on the candidates' stances, issues, and character.
To me, and I'm sure a lot of other people out there, watching and hearing about politics on the news can be boring and upsetting. Here I am watching these grown adults call each other names, yell at each other, and basically act like a bunch of immature kindergartners. You hear that Trump called this person that so that person had to call him something else, to Trump had to call him and his close friend something else and it goes on and on and soon enough you have all these major political figures, who are trying to be the next leader of our country, in a screaming and name-calling battle.
Nonetheless, we the American people are left with a choice of five candidates, two Democrat and three Republican, and frankly we must make a choice. One of the most important things we can do as citizens of the United States is vote. The type of government we have is a Democracy where "the people's" voice can be heard. Voting is a right that we have and something we should not neglect because this is our way to make an impact on the government and the way it is run.
I very well understand that the candidates running for the 2016 election aren't the greatest. Heck, I still don't even know who I'm voting for and I'm voting in the New York State Primary on April 19. But I'm still going to vote because if I don't then I didn't make a difference in the government, I didn't have a say in who my leader would be, and above all I didn't even affect the person I want the least to loose.
So if you don't know or aren't really familiar with all of the candidates' policies and views, I would encourage you to educate yourself on the candidates and learn what they think and want to do, so you can go to the polls come November and help make a real difference and help America get a leader that it deserves!
