The Republic Of Georgia: A Little Unknown, But Nevertheless Extraordinary

In This Article:

Nestled precisely on the border of Europe and Asia, and cradled within the Caucus Mountains, there you can find a nation of extraordinary nature, culture, and people. Unfortunately, this jewel is not very well known, as a matter of fact, most people think this nation is a part of Russia, when in fact it is a world of its own, one that needs to be seen to be believed. If you haven't already guessed from the cover photo, the country I am referring to is non-other than Georgia, and no it's not the one above Florida. Georgia, or the Republic of Georgia, is God's gift to the world, and the perfect place for that unconventional traveler.

1. No words are eloquent enough to describe the nature in Georgia

Legend has it, that at the time when God was giving away land on Earth to his various peoples, the Georgians showed up late because they were occupied with drinking and eating, thus there was no more land left for them. Upon hearing these news from God, the Georgians sat Him down to the table, and explained how they were only drinking to Gods health and wellbeing. The legend continues to say that God was so taken aback by the company of the Georgians, that He gave them the land which He had set aside for Himself. The truth behind this legend is evident when gazing up at the beautiful mountains or at those lush forests; how life itself deemed Georgia to be the most astounding.

1. Music that surrounds you will soon become a part of you.

One of the most defining cultural aspects of Georgia, is their passion for music and dance. It is rare to enter a Georgians home and NOT find a piano or a guitar, in most cases there's both. Music rushes through their blood just as much as oxygen, and if you are lucky enough to stumble upon a Georgian with a guitar, well, you can consider yourself in love.

3. The cradle of wine-you will never not be tipsy.

Bet you didn't know that the wine you so love originated from Georgia, yeah that's right, this small hidden nation is the birthplace of one of the worlds' most favorite drinks-and well mine. In 2006 archeologists found grape-seeds and various wine making equipment dating all the way back to 6000 BC... and in 2017, Georgia was OFFICIALLY proclaimed the birthplace of wine. No matter your taste: red, white, dry, or sweet, Georgia is the home to hundreds of grape varieties, and I guarantee you will find a wine uniquely suited just for you.

4. The true beauty is within the people.

The Georgian people are the true gems of the Caucus, and I guarantee they will fill your heart with a tremendous amount of laughter, joy, and love. Georgians are a simple people, ones with values built upon their culture and nation, emanating goodness at all times. As a tourist in Georgia it is hard not to feel this goodness soaking into your skin, not to become one with the Georgian people, after all, all it takes is a few glasses of Georgian wine and you'll soon become one of them.

This article is just a microscopic glimpse into what Georgia is, I simply do not have enough words to begin describing every beautiful aspect of this nation. So, next time you're planning a vacation, or just want to explore places hidden away from the rest of the world, take Georgia into consideration, I guarantee you will not want to leave.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
