I hear all the time from people that are much older than me that my generation is obsessed with our phones, or that we can never get off of our phones. Well, I have some news for you. We aren't the only generation being consumed by the advances of this technological world.

First of all, I would like to point out that we have grown up in a world where cellphones have never not been around. I remember when I was a kid that my parents refused to get cellphones, but now they are both the proud owners of iPhones.

Look around! Millennials aren't the only ones with theirs noses in a phone. I recently saw an article by BuzzFeed with a number of pictures of people of older generations on their cellphones. This article got me thinking. When I look around, there are people older than me everywhere I go with a cellphone in their hands, and their eyes drawn to the screen. Even one of my professors uses his phone as a tool during his lectures. Face it, we aren't the only ones who can’t live without our phones.

So, why are we the only ones being criticized? It’s because the younger generation is always going to be criticized by the older generations. I’m sure that in the 60's, wearing tight pants and listening to the Beatles caused all the fuss in the older generations. So to the Baby Boomers and those even older, give the Millennials a break, and maybe look at your own generation.

Lastly, to the Millennials, give the older generations a break, because they suffered through the same amounts of criticism. Odds are we will most likely do the same to the coming generations.
