Recently, Sarah Palin had been backing a movie screening of a production called “Climate Hustle”. The best response to this I have seen thus far is through the popular TV Show host Jimmy Kimmel. Not only does he give the situation comic relief but he gives out valid points.
In the clip below, Palin states that she wants people to question more, why should they just believe 97% of scientists? Kimmel’s rebuttal is along the lines of, well who are you to deny 97% of qualified specialists? If a doctor tells you that 97% of patients use this antibiotic to get rid of strep throat would you deny him or her?
When you're known as "Bill Nye the Science Guy" there is good reason to assume you know what you're talking about.
"Sarah Palin, show me your degree in any Environmental Field. Go argue with the scientists" Jimmy Kimmel interviewed. I am only a sophomore environmental studies major and I can certainly beat you in a public debate. I do not even have a bachelor's degree and I know more than a government official.
I am sick of my health, the health of my children, the landscapes, the biodiversity, and the right to life is being taken away from those who are only thinking short term. Big corporations want money? Well what are they going to do when their factories are flooded, their workers have lung cancer from the pollution and there are no more resources to create that product? Well, you’re f*cked.
If Palin was truly educated on the subject, she would know that Global Climate Change and Global Warming have two different meanings. Global Climate Change is the OVERALL CLIMATE (average temperatures from several years) increases. An increase of 5 Degrees Fahrenheit, which we are nearing, will send earth to the point of no return. At that point, anthropocentric climate change cannot be solved. This change in atmospheric temperature will and already do lead to drastic weather events even SNOW STORMS due to an increase in accumulation of water vapor. Global Warming refers to the climate of earth increasing. It refers to this 5 Degree mark that we do not want to hit. But as soon as people see a snowstorm they say “oh yeah global warming is not real”. False.
Kimmel compares this to yogurt. He says that he has seen yogurt tubes in the store but he just does not believe they exist. There is nothing in them.
That is like looking at the cover of a novel and believing you know the plot.
It is ignorant.
It is dangerous.
I do not want these people leading my country.
If Sarah Palin knew any better, she would be helping the indigenous people of Alaska, like those of Newtok, whose homes are being eroded due to a rise in sea temperatures. But instead, she is going to waste her money and time promoting an anti-climate change video. Clearly she works for the people.
There are people’s livelihoods in jeopardy, looking up to you for help, and you are just going to strand them? How inhumane. WE NEED PEOPLE IN POLITICS NOT ROBOTS.
Kimmel clearly cares about the next generation. Just because he may not be around for the latter effects of climate change that does not mean he will leave his children to clean up the mess. I DO NOT WANT TO CLEAN UP AFTER GENERATION X. When you eat over someone’s house you clean the plate, you do not live your dirty dishes and napkins all over the table. This is not your permanent home, each generation is just in a lease until the next generation kicks in.
