However we met, I'm grateful for it.

We met on Facebook over "where you're from?" and "what you were thinking about majoring in?" We bonded over having a love of certain types of music and agreeing that Chick-fil-A is the best food you can buy. What I didn't know was that those simple conversations would lead to friendships that I could never imagine.

Maybe we met because the guys you lived with your freshman year gave you a headache so you slept on my couch. Maybe we became friends because I didn't have a roommate and so The College just threw you into my room like it was a good idea or maybe we became friends because you live across the hall from me and you liked stealing our doormat.

However we met I'm grateful for it.

There's always a saying you hear about how the people you meet in college will be your lifelong friends — I whole heartily believe that.

I have never laughed so hard or so much with a group of people and I feel so lucky to call you all my friends.

I am definitely the mom friend when it comes to the friend group. I always go out of my way to check my friends' locations, which I guess is creepy, to make sure they're safe and not in the ocean somewhere. With college comes irresponsibly drinking too much, but lucky for my friends I am always sober and always ready to be the "mom friend."

I have a group text and a group Snapchat with multiple friend groups that I've made here in Charleston and when I had to go home for the Hurricane or for Christmas Break, I had severe withdrawal issues. When one of my friends thought it was smart to transfer schools and then realized he was stupid and came back, I was more than relieved because I don't know what I would've done without all my "roommates."

What I'm trying to say is, I'm so grateful for you all. I could not begin to name every single one of you but overall I appreciate you and love you all. After a long three hour drive from Clover, South Carolina to Charleston there is so much joy walking into my dorm because I know that's where my friends are. You guys are like family to me and without your annoying television shows, obsession with video games, gluten-free foods, tons of veggies and fruits and the fact that you wake me up from my naps to ask me what I'm doing: I wouldn't be who I am today.

Thanks for being you.

Unfortunately, I still have no idea what geek nine actually means, but I freaking love you guys.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
