HBO's "Game of Thrones" finally returns with new episodes this week and after the long wait some fans may need a quick recap, so here is where we left our favorite characters.
House Stark
Sansa Stark: The season started with Sansa at King's Landing with her new husband, Tyrion Lannister. She fled to the Eyrie with Littlefinger's help and she protected him after the death of her aunt Lysa.
Bran Stark: Bran has continued heading north. He stopped at Craster's Keep briefly and is now at the magic tree with Meera Reed and Hodor.
Arya Stark: Arya and The Hound started at The Twins after the horrifying Red Wedding. They made their way to The Eyrie, only to learn their contact had died. After leaving, The Hound was defeated by Brienne in battle, giving Arya her opportunity to go off on her own. The season ended with her sailing from the town of Saltspans to the eastern city of Braavos.
Rickon Stark: Bran sent Rickon and Osha to Last Hearth to be safe when he heard that Castle Black might be attacked.
House Lannister
Tyrion Lannister: After being accused of killing the King Jeoffry and held in a cell for the majority of the season. Tyrion was smuggled out of King's Landing on a boat to an unknown destination.
Cersei Lannister: Cersei holds Tyrion responsible for Joffery's death. Her unwillingness to marry Loras Tyrell and let her father raise Tommen resulted in her telling her father the incestuous stories about her and Jaime were true.
Jamie Lannister: He helped Tyrion escape, unaware Tyrion would go confront and kill their father.
Tywin Lannister: Tywin and Shae were killed by Tyrion during his escape from King's Landing.
House Baratheon
Tommen Baratheon: Tommen is now the heir to the throne after Joffery's death. He is engaged to Margaery Tyrell.
Stannis Baratheon: At the Red priestess Melisandre's request, Stannis has been sacrificing those with royal blood. He continues to work to claim the throne and is now at Castle Black where he is holding Mance Rayder hostage.
Myrcella Baratheon: In Dorne.
Joffrey Baratheon: Deceased.
House Martell
Oberyn Martell: Prince Oberyn fought for Tyrion Lannister during Tyrion's combat trial for the murder of Kind Joffery. He was killed in battle.
House Targaryen
Daenerys Targaryen: Dany has been strategizing her return to the Seven Kingdoms to take back the Iron Throne. She marches across Essos with her people. Her dragons have grown too big to control, forcing her to lock two of them up. Her dragon, Drogon's whereabouts are unknown.
House Tyrell
Margaery Tyrell: Widowed by both Renly Baratheon and King Joffrey, she is now engaged to Joffreey's little brother in effort to maintain the alliance between the Tyrells and the Lannisters.
Loras Tyrell: Loras is engaged to marry Cersei in order to solidify the alliance, although neither of them are happy about the idea.
House Tully
Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish: He killed his new bride, Lysa Arryn, when she threatened Sansa.
Night's Watch
Jon Snow: Okay, technically not a Stark, but he is in our eyes. Jon traveled from Castle Black to the northern wilderness multiple times this season-- easily making him the best man on the Nights Watch.
Samwell Tarly: Fell in love with Gilly and is taking care of her and her son. Survived the Battle of Castle Black.
Free Folk
Ygritte: She died during the Battle of Castle Black in Jon Snow's arms.
Mance Rayder (King Beyond the Wall): He was taken hostage by Stannis Baratheon.
Others
Sandor "The Hound" Clegane: Brienne of Tarth severely wounded the Hound while trying to fulfill her promise to reclaim Arya for Catelyn Stark. Arya left the Hound alone to die.
Brienne Tarth: As a favor to Catelyn Stark, Brienne set out to bring the Stark girls home. She failed to retrieve Arya.
